My lord, Wahl wishes he was Dan Tkaczuk. Tkaczhuk was well on his way to becoming an NHL player before a concussion issue brought that to a screeching Halt.

Wahl seems totally lost and isn't even close to ever being in the NHL.

I've never been sold on Wahl's NHL potential but he's flakier then even I imagined.

Oh yeah, Tkaczhuk was the better prospect but the reason for both their downfalls seems to be concussions.

The Heat are really taking it on the chin tonight: 5-0 after one period against Rockford.

Yikes. Easily the worst game this season. Final score was 7-2 for the Ice Hogs. They had 38 shots on Brust and he let in seven of them. The Heat had a 44 year old guy as the backup, so Brust was either going to succeed or fail, no relief tonight.

As per the Heat facebook page: Irving was supposed to start today against Milwaukee, but came down with a stomach flu, so he'll be backing up Brust.

Heat lost 3-1 today to the Milwaukee Admirals. Ruegsegger the lone goal scored for the Heat.

Heat lose again today 3-1. According to the heat part time color commentator the Heat are 3-11-2 on the road after starting the season 5-2-1-1. Lack of goal scoring a big reason for that 8 games during the slide they have only scored 1 or less.

Abbotsford Heat twitter did mention that Reinhart was cut by a skate on his face but said it was only a minor cut.

Yikes. I hadn't heard that. That guy just has awful luck with close calls.

Wanna hear some worrisome stats?

In their last 10 road games, the Heat have a record of 2-7-1. In that time they have scored an average of 1.9 goals per game and have allowed an average of 3.2 goals per game.

We need some pure offensive players either this season or next, but that means acquiring players on actual contracts, not just PTOs.

Continuing on my last thought about getting scorers in Abby:

This offseason is going to be very interesting for the Heat. Feaster has the opportunity to go scorched earth with the farm next season.

The following Heat/Grizzlies players are RFA: Byron, Irving, Taylor, Nemisz, Lamb, Cameron, Wahl, Aliu, Bouma, Bancks, Patterson, Breen.

The following Heat/Grizzlies players are UFA: Carson, Walter, Kolanos, Piskula.

Not sure what the problem is but guys just don't seem to be able to put up the numbers under Ward. Take for instance Justin Dowling, pulled up from the Grizzlies last year.... after doing very well in the ECHL, plays 22 games for the Heat, 1 goal, 1 assist. This year he is one of the top goal scorers in the ECHL, gets called up to the Texas Stars, 15 games 8 goales and 2 assists. Look at Ben's Streets stats from last year, not so good this year. I really don't know what to make of it. Bancks had his best year under Jim Playfair, plus had some injuries. I realize there are a lot of contributing factors but makes you wonder.......!

I think the team is to focused on building well rounded two way players. This leads to the players focusing on their defensive game and not using their strengths in the offensive zone. Not sure if it's Wards philosophy or the Flames philosophy but it's not helping create players the team needs.

Granted there's only a few players who are offensively talented on the Heat but all have been inefficient in producing.

The way I see it. Green = re-sign, orange = AHL deal, red = cut ties. Would clear a lot of contracts ...

The offensive (or lack thereof) has to be a system thing. They barely score more than 2 goals a game and allow about the same amount. Seems like a wacky strategy to use to develop guys but its not like there is anyone down there who's going to be playing an offensive role on the Flames.

There's no way Irving will reach the minimum number of NHL games played to maintain RFA status, so he'll become a UFA too.

Next year, they need to find spaces for Granlund and Ferland, which should help the offence. I'd say there's a good chance Bill Arnold will turn pro this summer, and a lesser chance Gaudreau will.

On the back-end, Wotherspoon and Ramage should be making the jump.

If Ortio is still in any plans on this side of the Atlantic, they need him playing in Abbotsford next year. I think Brossoit can play another year as an overager, but the Oil Kings might want to hand the reins to Jarry.

Just saw on ECHL transactions that Cameron is getting called up to The Heat.
Scratch that, I guess he is getting traded to San Fransico for a forward and a d-man who are going to the Grizz. Probably the trade has to go through the Heat. Apparently Wahl is going up to Abby.

Seams like Wahl last chance to make an impression with the Flames organization. Pretty tall task for the kid and it's a shame, kid had a slew of potential.

Wahl leads the grizzlies, with 59 points 19 goals and 40 assists in 45 games and is 3rd in the ECHL. Hopefully he can show some of this in the AHL, I think your right he may not get another chance.
