Totally agree. My kids love visiting the campus with me and doing hardcore parkour leaps on the fat steps in the field between Five Guys and the Playground.

On the University District website it states that it is designed as a walking and cycling community. Neighbourhoods and parks are connected by a 12km path system.
Residential roads don't typically have bike lanes, I presume because they're not that busy, and also because crossing a community from one end to another on a bike takes like 10 minutes.

University Ave should be set up with a cycle track and maybe even McLaurin and 39 Street.

I am beyond thrilled that Grumans Deli's new location is right near my house. Opening October 1st, Grumans Deli will be opening in the Garrison Curling Club.

I'll miss the downtown location, but I've been frequenting their Britannia location like a banshee since it closed.

That's dangerously close to my office, but great news!

They had the contract to run the cafeteria at my office, but wasn't anywhere near the same as the deli.

Food wasn't great and they didn't get renewed.

This is the first I heard about Grumans closing in downtown. It's a little bittersweet as I lived in a loft across the street for years and in various beltline places where it was literally 5 minutes walk and I only went there once.

I remember being disappointed in their Montreal Smoked Meat and never returned but I should have tried some other stuff on their menu.

Preach Brother. My first office was an 5 minute walk to Holy Smoke.

Mistakes were made.

First it was Golden Inn Restaurant in Chinatown, now Silver Inn Restaurant on Centre Street is closing:

Quote:
Silver Inn Restaurant has served Calgarians Peking-style Chinese food for 47 years, and chef George Wong is credited with creating the now widely cooked and consumed dish of ginger beef back in the 1970s.

"We are also very proud to be recognised in putting Calgary on the culinary map with our invention of ginger beef," said the post.

Although the restaurant's final day of operation is coming up, the owners say they are "developing a new business plan."

"Maybe someday a new version of Silver Inn will re-emerge in Calgary or elsewhere in Canada," said the Facebook post.

Probably to be able to eat Chinese food without it adversely affecting your health.

Not if there's gluten free Chinese food. Try to keep up.

I made sure to always order by phone, and pay in cash. But I'm an X'er, so this is in no way my fault.
