Some reports coming out of at least 2 strikes (Saratov and Ryazan) within Russia which may have destroyed at least 2 Tu-95 strategic bombers.
The reason why this is big news is this may have been done by a new UAV currently being developed by Ukraine and being tested this week, that has a range of 1000 km and payload of 75kg.
Zenlensky has stated they will take Crimea back. People talk about having killer instinct well, Ukraine has it . They smell blood and the country wants every inch of land back. Ukraine dosen't have to officially join Nato right now . They have the force of Nato behind them and they want to send a message.
But ultimately, Ukraine can really only go as far as the US is willing to support them. And the US is still deeply cognizant of avoiding escalation, which makes them supporting Ukraine trying to get Crimea back by attacking a pretty tall order.
For instance, just today it was revealed that not only has the US declined to send long-range ATACMS missiles for fear of escalation, but they have also modified the HIMARS units they've supplied so they aren't even capable of firing long-range missiles as they are currently set up:

Russia freed WNBA star Brittney Griner on Thursday in a dramatic high-level prisoner exchange, with the U.S. releasing notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, American and Russian officials said.
In order to get some idiot athlete back, the US is releasing "one of the world's most prolific arms dealers", who is also known as "the merchant of death". What an utter joke.

Don't be surprised if Bout meets an unfortunate end in the next year. I can't see the Americans letting him walk in this manner. Then again, there is some truth in Lords of War, and America needs these arms dealers out there fomenting war so they can sell their weapons too.

If I was the Thai government I would be absolutely livid. In the late 2000's there was so much attention around the US sting operation, extradition, Thai politics and impact on foreign relations from this. All to trade for a basketball player who decided to go play in a Russian league during the offseason and pleaded guilty to having hash? JFC.

This whole story has been annoying AF from the outset. Boohoo, bitch. If I tried to go to the states with weed they'd throw me in the slammer, too.

Disgusting trade. Whomever the goofs are that thought it was a good idea to let loose a mass murderer with hundreds, if not thousands of deaths on his hands, for an idiot who couldn't be bothered to hold off smoking weed for a few days deserves to be slapped repeatedly in the teeth.
Hopefully she feels shame and guilt over this for the rest of her life. Can't believe the US was dumb enough to do this. Makes me wonder what kind of sway/influence her family has with various politicians. Russians will definitely be looking at this as a sign of weakness from the US and will undoubtedly take advantage of this at future opportunities. Massive 'win' for Russia, during a time when we can't afford to give them any.

Totally agree that she should be freed. Her trial and sentencing was a complete farce. I don't like exchanging a guy like Bout for her though.
In other news, Putin's nuclear threats are a growing concern. Paraphrasing, but he basically said that if Russia does not use nuclear weapons first, they will not be able to use them second because their capabilities to respond would be be too diminished. This implies that that he would use them first, but not in Ukraine.

Just seems like the same old rhetoric from Putin. China would shut that #### down. Whether Russia uses them first or 2nd they would still be wiped off the face of the earth and the world as we know it would end.
