Have you been paying attention to any of the fine fiscal management Smith has been doing, or are you just ok with the way she has been throwing money around at absolutely everything, while having the largest cabinet(expensive) and the largest office staff of any Alberta premier, ever?

If fiscal policy is an issue for you, the UCP have shown to be very very bad at it. Don't let record resource revenue fool you to that fact.

Good sir, would you happen to have a source? Or might this be just hot air from your cornhole?

I, for one, will be so relieved not to return to the dystopian hellscape that we endured during the 4 years Notley was premier.

After all, it’s not like those 4 years were basically normal from a governance perspective, is it?

Nope. It was all deficit spending and secret police disappearing dissidents in broad daylight. Shudder. We barely survived.

Found an issue with your line of questioning.

Assuming any kind of awareness or evidence from someone who still supports the UCP in 2023? Bold position to take. Foolish, some might say, like asking a dog to read the alphabet. But bold.

I actually haven't looked it up in Canada but in the US it is Republicans that typically increase deficits cause they cut taxes but don't really cut services. I would bet it is similar here.

Meanwhile, in Southern Alberta parents are using their freedoms to foist suffering upon their kids after listening to one too many hours of Danielle Smith on the radio.

Quote:
An outbreak of pertussis, or whooping cough, is spreading in southern Alberta, and it has health officials concerned.

In a statement Thursday, Alberta Health Services said there are now 146 confirmed cases in the South Zone, which covers the area south of Calgary, including the cities of Brooks, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

In just the past week, the number of confirmed cases of whooping cough in the area has jumped nearly 20 per cent.

These people should be charged a stupid tax so they can cover the unnecessary healthcare costs.

I mean this is more akin to child abuse than supporting a trans kid, that's for sure.

This was in the headlines a few months ago as well. Basically it is the Mexican Mennonites in rural towns like Vauxhall, Taber and Bow Island driving the spread of this. It is maybe not so much an anti vax stance but more so a lack of education surrounding immunizations in children.

At 40% vaccination rates, it's gotta be pretty widespread. The problem is a lack of trust in our systems, and it's a direct result of people like Smith spreading their views of freedom and rebelling against all forms of authority. Who would have thought words have consequences? We've allowed our institutions of information(media, primarily) to deceive the population for so long and given legitimacy to politicians that espouse these views that this is the result.

Look, this is just a prime example of what our province looks like with Smith leading it, pushing her Libertarianism ideals. Albertans need to decide if wandering down the path of ignorance in favour of populism is really going to result in robust policy decisions that benefit Albertans, or send them down a path of ignorance.

Yeah, gonna have to see some data suggesting mexican mennonites make up a meaningful population section of Alberta, let alone meaningful ugh to create a significant drop in vaccination rates.

They're actually more common than one might think. Two Hills Alberta has a lot of Mexican mennonites as their population, at least from what I could see. And that's a central Albertan town. I imagine there is more in southern Alberta.

I'm giving anecdotal evidence, but they definitely compose a demographic.

I’m not denying they compose a demographic, I’m asking for data that shows that demographic is big enough to be a source for that big of a drop.

Yikes. Nevermind that it completely debunks your claim, but it's fair for you to be skeptical since I got that chart from the notoriously left-biased...checks notes...Fraser Institute.

This is from 8 years back estimating up to 30,000 in southern Alberta. Numbers would be higher today given their knack for procreation. This would represent ~10% of the South Health Zone. The graph linked above singles out South Zone “Central Region” I can’t find out where exactly these boundaries lie but based on geography this would be the heart of their community (eliminating CNP, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat??) which would push the population in the 50% range.

Could make sense then, that’s a pretty large section of people for that area.

Anyone who thinks the UCP, or today's conservatives for that matter, are stewards of fiscal responsibility really, really need to spend five minutes getting out of their parents' basement sometime and into the real world. Watching the hardcore UCP supporters in this thread double down on their delusional realities and the poop they've been fed is hilarious to observe, but also really f'ing sad to see too.
