Fleury won't go back there. Wait until the uproar happens when Vegas trades for John Gibson.

Ugh, gross. Has there been speculation that Gibson is available?
Anaheim is looking like they're back on their way up, and they have a prime aged goalie signed to a sweet contract who is probably top 5 in the league roughly? Trading Gibson doesn't make any sense to me. Especially in division.

No speculation, just something that would seem to happen because it would suck.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this Sutter season so far, but on a night off I find myself pondering what the plan might be if the worst happens and Tre can't get either of the big two extended long term.
Johnny walks, Chucky only accepts his 1 year QO.
1. Hopefully Forsberg also reaches UFA, and you do everything you can to get him to sign in Calgary, including "sicking" all the Swedes on him.
2. Try to trade Chucky to either Ottawa so he can team up with his bro long term, or to the Blues. Those would be the most likely targets for obvious reasons, but if somebody else offers more that certainly works as well.
Kind of a retool on the fly I guess. Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but if it does I could see Sutter making it work.

It's still my pipe dream that Vegas trades for Fleury and after its finalized Fleury announces his retirement on Twitter.

Since the Hawks cannot retain on a Fleury trade to Vegas, can’t see how it would work.
And since Fleury needs to approve any trade, why would he approve a trade to Vegas and then retire? Presumably if he didn’t report, the trade would be revoked anyway.

Recovery from a torn labrum in a hip is not great (speaking from the point of view of a late 40's beer leaguer who was afraid of the surgery because of the months of recovery time and chances of having to wear metal underwear).

Arizona offering to retain 50% of Phil’s contract (word on the street). Phil Kessel could slide in our bottom 6 nicely for a nice 3rd round pick

Even with Arizona retaining the maximum, he'd still have a $3.4 million cap hit, so there would still need to be some additional cap space moved around.

Even if you could do the cap gymnastics to make it work, where does he play?
4L RW?
Not sure that he's a fit now that the Flames have Toffoli.

on HNIC they said there is some concern among Russian players that the USA and Canada might deny them visas to play next season as part of the response to Ukraine.
Could leave some teams with huge holes to fill if it gets to that point.

I suppose you could stop playing Coleman RW and then have Toffoli and Kessel on RW with Mangiapane and Coleman as the LWs on each middle six line.
I don’t know that he’s a Sutter player though.

What a stupid view. You are going to punish hockey players because of some dictator's actions they have no control over? We need to be better than that.
