You can count them on one hand that is missing fingers.

The Flames shouldn’t be trading anymore picks they should be accumulating.
The base of any Andersson deal was to get picks back and a top prospect up the middle. I’d say Nemec is that 1st round pick and with Mercers play and is he a winger or a center that really evens out the deal.
The issue is bringing in another guy in middle 6. It’s creates a log jam and Zary needs to play center. You can always flip Mercer for picks as well. The key now should be trying get 1st line talent and that’s coming via the draft or now you have a guy like Nemec you could trade for a top forward prospect.

The organization doesn't really see Zary at center long term though it seems.
Things are fluid too. To me bringing in something like Mercer and Nemec in a deal, after already bringing in Frost and Farabee, means it's more likely that pieces like Kadri or Coleman get moved.

It’s really unfortunate because he is good and one of the few guys who can take the puck and drive play up ice. It would feel like a waste moving him back to wing.
We still have Sharangovich and Huberdeau and Coronato. Pospisil keeps getting top 9 minutes.
It looks like a deep forward group but it’s only deep if they can perform in roles they may not get the ice time with. Huberdeau needs ice time. Coronato and Zary need ice time to develop.
Also it really doesn’t feel like Coleman or Kadri want to leave anytime soon.

Honestly, it truly seems like any C the Flames pick has a huge uphill battle to become a C in the NHL, which is curious given how little they seem to have at the position.
I’m starting to think the Flames might need to put their draft list aside and start reaching for C’s in the next year or two.

I was pulling for Ritchie to the Flames all season in 2022-23, but as Jiri said- he wasn’t able to show his true self in the OHL that year. To be honest, as much as I liked Honzek, I was disappointed that we left Ritchie on the board to take him.
BPA all the way, and as much as a I know it won’t happen- I would be happy if they took nothing but centers with each pick this summer. It’s really the only weakness in our pipeline, we have every other position covered nicely.

Are there any c’s that might slip. I don’t want McQueen warning signs like Lindstrom but any others ?
Always wondered how Kopitar was 11th. Was he not scouted as much. That’s probably what we should be hoping for.

Kopitar slipped because of his skating mostly. I still think Carter Bear will be long gone by the time we pick, but Reschny might be available, along with Kindel, and then there’s Cootes, Gastrin, McKinney, Moore, Murtagh, and Nesbitt.

Slip? Only two would be McQueen or Ryabkin. But not so far down to the Flames. They'd still have to try and trade up to take on eof them. If anything, any centers in or around the Flames range will probably go higher.

I would say the slipping candidates are Frondell and o’brien.
Frondell not sure i see a massive offensive ceiling, i see him as a more physicsl Backlund, maybe slightly more offense, have seen him anywhere from 2 to 20.
O is a playmaking machine, great skill but might be more of a huberdeau style player pass first. Both could go top ten which could bring names like cootes, martin, ryabakin, murtagh into the picture. Obrien and murtagh are the guys with possible top line projection. Frondell and obrien depends on who you ask. Martin and cootes and nesbitt i think are the guys we look at around 20.

O’brien is the guy who if he is in the teens that conroy might try to move up. However that depends on how a martin or nesbitt stack up as the cost might be way higher than the difference.

Well we have 2 1st round picks. Without a 2nd so is this draft deep enough that it would be better keep both 1sts or use it to move up to grab a C.
If moving up I wouldn’t want a safe player. More off a guy with a boom bust potential.

Flames still have a 2nd.
They moved their own but still have the 2nd from Colorado via Washington. (Mangiapane trade).

And Washington got it from Colorado so it's technically Colorado's 2nd round, whenever that ends up being.

Still can’t believe we got a 2nd for him full salary. He’s on pace for 15 goals and 10 assists woof.

Kopitar also slipped because some teams were leery of drafting a guy from Slovenia so high, iirc.
