“I look at the Americans. I look at Ron DeSantis in Florida and Kristi Noem in South Dakota," said Smith. "They've been able to create little bastions of freedom, and we can create a little bastion of freedom in Alberta as well."

You’d have to explain how you define free enterprise before I can answer that as I’m sure you’d agree that it’s a very subjective term.

Again that would depend on how you define personal gain and the means used to obtain said gains, while it may not be a scam, depending on your definition it could be considered unethical and/or detrimental to society overall.

Smith would be a far right Republican if she was a politician in the States.

Whew, what a day for Danielle. Photos with extremists facing serious charges, getting Theo Fleury's communist bio weapon endorsement, and loudly proclaiming the desire for a DeSantis political freedom bunker.
Anyone remember that arena deal?
Me neither. And all it took was three days.

Out of any number of examples, I will stick with one. How many billions are wasted annually on debt servicing costs? That money could pay for 2 ridiculously stupid one-time mistakes, plus another 2 creative, half decent policies. EVERY YEAR.
The costs of constantly catering to NDP stakeholders creates a structure of permanent recurring cost increases, deficits and INCREASING debt service costs. oh, and compounding.
I know you think the NDP are better at minimizing costs but good luck with that sales pitch.
The fiscal revenue side is a whole other conversation. I definitely don't trust NDP policies to foster an environment for economic growth. Who would want to opreate as an employer (gasp.. corporation) in a province where investment returns (gasp... profits) are begrudged as if there were no risks involved?
This Arena deal... do NDP'ers think Murray Edwards is making billions operating this hockey team?!? I don't think so, but they seem entitled to think he should fork over hundreds of millions for an event centre the city needs more than he does.
|
Even if this word salad of nonsense were true it is still clear that the NDP are miles ahead of a Danielle Smith led UCP party and really it isn't debatable.
And I say that as someone who has voted for Conservatives, Reform, Wild Rose, UCP as well as volunteered for them in every election since I turned 18. And I include this so that when you come back with the "Trudeau lover" "Libtard" "Orange Friend" retort because you can't come up with any legitimate reasons to defend the party you will have to do better than a weak nickname to try and back out.
Honestly, I would say anyone who says they are a conservative and a far-right wing thinker should hate Smith, the UCP (and Poilievre) more than anyone as they have made the right side of Albertan (and Canadian) politics into a group no rational thinker can support. They have made what should be a lay up of power in Alberta for the next 20 years+ into a tightly contested election that they will be lucky to win. It is an absolute embarrassment what they represent, an embarrassment where they have taken the party and disgusting that people are too narrow minded to see this and change their views.

Did that get any media play when it was said on April 11th? Does she say so many dumb things that I just missed it. It seems weird that one isn’t getting more play. It’s clear she has an event in Gibbons that night.
I was looking for a second source but didn’t find one.

Don’t remember seeing it either. Seems like it was lost in the shuffle. Can’t imagine why it wouldn’t be accurate thought.
This quote from the article is also concerning:
Quote:
Many of the questions brought up by Gibbons' residents were about the World Economic Forum, the World Health Organization, and 15 Minute Cities.
|
These are the issues attendees were asking about? There is no reasoning here. A large portion of UCP voters are on a different plain of “facts”

Likely just the one local source (radio newsroom), given the dearth of journalism in the province. Written fairly uncritically and matter of factly. No reason not to believe its veracity.
A crowd of 500 in a 3000 person town also sounds about right. These events draw people.
