Great job by Team USA as well. Getting to the gold medal game in a tournament in which most folks thought they wouldn't have a chance at a medal. Keep that group together and watch out for 2014!
Youngest team in the tournament and beat a lot of expectations though my gut always told me that it would be Canada vs. USA in the final. I liked the Russians but didn't think they had the depth on defence to get them to the gold medal game. I think they'll be a huge threat in 2014 (assuming the NHL joins) or future World Cups.

Ryan Miller must also be a shoe-in for top player in the tournament. He was outstanding.

Damn. What a great game. One for the hockey history books.

Luuu! made some great saves in the first, and though the first goal was a whiff, I can forgive him on the second, which, like the second goal against Slovakia, was largely a defensive breakdown.

And Iggy to Sid... what a pass, what a shot, what a way to win it. Who'd ever have thought Sid would get those types of cheers in Vancouver?

And while there are folks on the American team I hate (Kane), hats off to them for a great game.

You guys can go back to the usual league rivalries now if you want. I'm going to savor this one while.

Everybody remembers who passed to Lemieux in 1987.

I said Crosby was going to win it by backhand in a shootout, so close.

I think it is, but it's also called Requiem for a Dream. It's from the movie of the same name IIRC.

and wow! HUGE PROPS to Calgary Puck for not bashing on Lou this tournament. I was pulling for Iggy big time, and I think I hate the Flames quite a lot less after seeing how cool this forum has been all Olympics.I'll see how I feel next week though

Flames fans should be very proud that Iggy assisted on the goal but it is Crosby's moment in the end.

You're right that nobody but Flames fans will remember it as anything other than "Crosby's goal" but I'll always remember Iginla's part in it as well, and what an awesome Olympics he's had. I really don't want to hear anymore trade Iginla talk, ever.

Dude...he came from behind the net and was 2 feet in front of Tretiak when he got a pass.

No, they are acting like Team Canada won gold... because they did. They might cheer for the Leafs and I might hate them all for it, but they are still Canadians. I say good on 'em. You don't have to be in Vancouver to join in the fun and show your support and pride! I am sure there are similar scenes across Canada and it is incredible!

Considering how young the U.S. team is, and recalling that they won the WJC this year, the future looks bright for the U.S.

I don't think they can any longer be cosidered an underdog in hockey.

I seem to be remembering a different goal then.

Edit: Ah, it was this one.
