Any opinions on the 2011 Ford F-150? Looking at potentially picking up a SuperCrew, have heard good things about the new EcoBoost engine as well.

Explain to me the math on this:
Price of vehicle after taxes, trade-ins and downpayments $36,223
Financing is set to be 3.99% over 60 months.
Monthly payment ends up being $667.
Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me but that doesn't add up at all. What am I missing?
|
That's perfectly correct:
http://www.auto123.com/en/new-cars/calculator/
If you put in $36,223 as the car price and then calculate, look at 4% (which is 3.99%, obviously) - it comes to 667 a month.

The one big complaint is the new ford mytouch system is laggy, buggy and all-around crappy - kept it from being recommended by CR, as I understand.

Thus the interest component is $40,020 - $36,220 = $3,800
$3,800 / $36,220 = 10.% / 5 years = 2.1%
If that's what's messing you up (why isn't in 4%?!) it's because the interest you're paying is decreasing. To start the term, every $667 payment, roughly $605 is paying down the loan and $67 is paying the interest, so you are reducing the principal on which interest is calculated with each payment, thus reducing the interest expense.

We have a couple of them at work, the turbo 6 is amazing. But I agree with Scud, the sync thing is pretty crappy.

Fotze, a Ford F-450 King Ranch should do the job.
And yes, you can easily get a great car for under 30k. You can get a great car for under 20k.

I saw what I wondered was a potentially great deal on a car and had a few related questions - I don't want to share said car with the whole used car shopping population on this website

Excuse me if this has already been answered, the thread is at 46 pages at the moment.
I am in the market for a new truck. Currently I am in between the Sierra 1500 and RAM 1500; and leaning towards the GMC. Likley buying a new truck rather than used. My question relates to dealer incentives. I would assume, around this point in time would be the best time to pick up a new 2011 at a reduced price as they try and make room for the 2012’s. You always hear those commercials on the radio and such, but never looked into it that much. Have any information on the validity of that statement?
Further, are those dealer incentives actually worth pursuing? Such as the public gets the friends and family discount etc? I understand the dealerships get the rebate directly from GM head office, so they can offer better prices than if it was just them selling…but I’m not too sure.
If you could add some insight I’d appreciate it.

I took over my boss's BMW X5 with 7 months left on the lease with the intention to purchase the vehicle outright at the end of the lease.
The termination date of the lease is February 9th, which is when the payout is due. I contacted the dealership to see if I just write them a cheque or if they need it certified. It's certified as expected, but they told me I need a safety inspection to be done first which costs $395 + tax. I've looked through the lease agreement somewhat closely and I can't find anything in there that says I have to do this. The SAV works fine and I just want to drop off the cheque and drive away.
My questions are, is this common place? Do other car manufacturers have this? If I look through all the lease documentation am I likely to find this? Is there a legal reason for this? Am I being taken advantage of?
Thanks in advance.

Just had my once every 5 years trip to the dealer for a new truck and, as usual, it was just a needlessly horrible experience all round.

I'd ask them if the safety is to ensure that the vehicle receives CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) status with BMW. If yes, then I'd have no problem paying it. Longer warranty coverage is always a good idea.

I just had a relatively bad experience with the dealership when the sales guy tried to hide the fact they were entering an Ontario postal code when calculating cost, (which has 13% sales tax).
Seriously, if you aren't a dick, i'm fine with a fair deal. I know the MSRP, what GST is and what freight costs you. Why try and charge me more?
I found during shopping that the sales guys are normally the nice upfront guys, and its the "finance managers" or whatever are the DBs.

I read through the lease with a little more care and found that I require a certificate of fitness (COF) at the end of the lease. I didn't like it, but it is in the lease so I was resigned to it. I emailed the contact the BMW business office manager gave me to book the inspection, and included how I didn't see the value in it.
She called me back and said if I wanted to buy the vehicle directly from BMW Financial Services, I did not have to pay the fee. If I wanted to buy the vehicle at the dealership, I'd have to pay the $395 for either a safety inspection or a documentation fee, but did not have to have the vehicle inspected.
The pro of going with BMWFS is I don't have to pay the fee, but the total buyout amount must be paid in full at closing. The pro of going with the dealership is you are able to finance the vehicle or return it. I had intended to pay the vehicle off anyways, but inquired on the finance rate. It is currently 5.8%, so it was an easy choice to just pay cash for it.
Except for the business office manager, everyone at BMW has been great and has given me other options along the way. The manager has really sullied my experience and if in a few years I buy another BMW, it will likely be from another dealership.
I don't know, but I assume the dealership will make more money if I buy it from them. All he had to do was knock $400 off the price of the car and then charge the safety inspection if they required it. I'm cash neutral and they make the sale. I'm happy and recommend them to my friends and return when I want another car. Now he gets nothing and I'm unlikely to return. Yes, it's only $400, but his tactics seem greasy and not just in this instance.
