Man that was a boring game. A bunch of weak contact hits and weird bounces put it out of reach early, and the Jays bats basically did nothing the whole game.
5th highest payroll in baseball and they get 4 hits a game. Atkins needs to be shot into the sun. Vlad is signed for life. Good. Dude is a star/superstar and will keep butts in seats. Get rid of everyone else. This team is a tire fire.
Vladdy needs to start playing like a star/superstar. He's been the same as previous years. Pretty inconsistent and not playing at a star/superstar level. I hope with him getting the contract he wanted he will turn it around soon.
It's embarrassing that the Jays caved and paid Vladdy $500 million. If only they could have lured one of the actual superstars they tried to get the last couple of off seasons. Im sure once the Jays are too far back to do anything Vlad will go on a heater where he actually lifts a ball once in a while.
One thing that's nice about having aome wins in the bank from that early good stretch is after a 4 game losing streak they're still at 500 and only 1/2 game out of the wildcard.
I think the NL is so much stronger than the AL this year that it might be like the 2023 NL where 84 wins was enough to make the post season.
I'm really struggling to watch this team.
Just brutal.

With all the talk from the rarely seen or heard Rogers, about World Series and long term success around the Vlad signing less than 2 weeks ago, can't really see the patience from those above Shapiro lasting, to make them sound foolish.
Changed the hitting coach.
Changed the approach
Brought in a slugger
Same story.
Schenider has to pay the price soon. But I said that last year too.

Schneider is not the main problem. Atkins is. He will absolutely not be saved if push comes to shove. It just seems too early, with not drastic results, to make a change. I suspect in two months we'll hear more cries for his job.

Of course he's not the problem, but he is the day to day manager of these players for the past 4+ years.
If a spark or message is deemed to be required to be sent to the players, a managerial change is a last resort and many MLB managers have been let go for less having gone wrong, nevermind a top 7 MLB salary cap team.
Players not seeing Atkins pop to the dressing room once or twice a month, no one will care in season. The manager is there, visible and engaged day to day and if he goes, players will naturally just have to adapt to a different messanger.
The roster construction is of course the main problem and Atkins has slid by there too the last offseasons,, but while the season is going on the manager is under more day to day fire than the GM and will cause the biggest change in the team day to day.

Based on their record I'd say they've exceeded expectations, results-wise. But when you look at the underlying stats, I dare say they've got lucky more than concrete results from good play. But a mediocre team was to be expected coming in. I said it at the start but there are still a lot of question marks for batting. It was foreseeable. That isn't the coach's fault IMO. Certainly he's been the coach for 3 seasons or whatever it is but the payroll and roster construction are the GMs doing. He should've been canned two years ago. I just can't stand that he's been given such a lengthy rope for mediocrity.
