Not even getting Jota on the pitch at all is almost sackable by itself, but doing so to avoid pissing a washed Ronaldo off? Yikes.

Spain look like the team to beat. They’ve been fun to watch too.

Meh, Ronaldo was always on there for one chance, and he got it. If he scores that he’s lauded as the ageless wonder by the same talking heads who are saying he’s washed up…and he made a great start and stop on the defender to get open, the ball just arrived a second earlier than expected.

Mbappe taking himself off in ET, which was not much more than a jog in park at that point for any player, basically telling everyone he didn’t want to take a penalty, was weak.
The ice pack for the first 30 seconds was for show, it didn’t make appearance the rest of the camera shots he was in.

But he didn't score it. And he missed a few other goals prime Ronaldo scores. We all know at this stage of his career he is not a starter, yet he played 240 minutes the last two matches and was one of the worst players on the pitch both times. Now to be fair Martinez is a terrible manager, but a real manager would have used Ronaldo as a sub where he could have really made a difference.

Age has finally caught up with both CR7 and Messi. I guess for CR7, he was pretty much done at WC2022.

He is washed up as a top class player. Has been for a long time now.

Evident by that when Piers Morgan handed United a lifeline enabling them to get rid of him there was zero interest from anyone in taking him on for free. Zero interest because he hasn't been able to perform over 90 minutes for a long time now at any decent standard.

Martinez needs to explain why he persisted with a player for 2 x 120 minutes who is currently playing in a league at the level of English league two.

Who was running the team? Ronaldo? Portuguese FA? Because that is not a coaching decision to leave him on? Difference between Messi and Ronaldo is ego. Messi knows he's well past his prime and has accepted it. Ronaldo. Still has to be the man.

Ronaldo should have been a super sub in this tournament, starting and playing full games is crazy

Are we going to get a shot in anger in this half?

I'm not even joking when I say this is the best England have looked all tournament. And yeah it's still absolutely abject, but it's still the best they've looked.

I love it when a corner kick just goes sweetly and directly into the keeper's hands.

Good job guys. Good job.

We have a shot on target, I repeat, we have a shot on target. Took 50 minutes, but that should open this barn burner up.

A shot fired in anger!!

It wasn't great, it wasn't hard and it barely warmed the keeper's hands but it was there!

The keeper needed to actually be physically present between the ball and the goal.

Its a start.
