Admittedly I’m pro-Gillies for the backup role however I would love nothing more for Rittich to come in an steal the starting job, relegating Smith to backup. 8 saves on 12 shots? C’mon man.

Honestly, Tkachuk was stupid to give that last slash. Not surprised the refs make a point by only sending him.
In other news: cite whatever advanced or regular stats you want, but 4 goals on 12 shots is the only thing that really matters through 2 periods.

The shorty by Sutter had some odour to it, although the 2-on-1 shouldn't have happened. And then Markstrom allowed a similar goal, so it kind of cancels out the semi-stinker by Smith.
All the same, how about a save? Markstrom has been brilliant these two games, aside from Gio's goal tonight. We're ahead in this one with that kind of goaltending.

So... At the end of the day, it's not petersson, it's not the refs, it's not markstrom that's the reason the flames are losing.
Flames Suck. Can't finish, dumb plays, flames gonna flames.
