Right. He didn't want to be part of a rebuild. His first choice was to stay and keep trying to win, and he only agreed to waive his NMC when the team made it clear that his first choice was no longer an option.

Tell you what, I'll suggest that it's not a curiosity at all that Kris Russell, a defenceman making $2.6 million at age 28 with no restrictive clauses in his contract, returned more at one trade deadline than Jarome Iginla, a winger making $7 million at age 35 with an NMC, fetched at a different trade deadline.

No Kris Russell tonight. Not expected to play Thursday as well.

I wonder if the Stars are upset that the Flames sent them damaged goods. Do we know if this injury has anything to do with the injury he had before he was traded?

^ Why should we care if the Stars are upset? They agreed to the trade, if they were unclear on Russell's injury state they should have asked for a clarification.

He's blocked 500 shots in the last two years - I think they knew what they were getting.

Or the games played in playoffs was a condition because they knew he was banged up.

The first few games in a Stars uniform, Russell was playing over 20 minutes a night (including one game where he logged over 27 minutes of ice time) so any injury that occurred happened whilst wearing a Stars uniform. Also, they don't need to rush Russell back into the lineup as both Klingberg and Jordie Benn are healthy and playing.

I think he had a groin issue ... now he's in a walking boot. Different injuries as said above.

With the hawks down a goalie and with a possible suspension for Keith this could really help the Stars get to that western final.

That being said Russell will have to be healthy and play.
