I wonder how long it takes for people to stop balking at contract numbers.

If the cap keeps going up (which it will) AAV's will as well. So maybe 7.5/year is the new 5 million.

Would love for Edmonton to spend too much on Craig Anderson.

34 year old, injury prone goalie, that has had consistency issues in the past.

Sure he does have flashes where he looks like the best goalie in the world but rarely can do it for long periods of time.

Oilers will be a playoff team if they get Anderson for next season. He's always amazing the first year he goes to a new team.

Damien Cox @DamoSpin
CLB may be hoping an offer of Artem Anisimov, Kerby Rychel and No. 8 pick can get No. 3 pick from ARIZ. Jackets then draft Noah Hanifin.

I cannot see why ARZ wouldn't do that trade. Anisimov has good cap. Is a good C, Reichel fits with the kids they have now.

The story is they are really high on Hanifin.

Anisimov was almost traded to the Oilers last season and they have been shopping Rychel as trade bait for a defenceman for awhile now. They feel they have enough forward prospect depth to cover the loss of Rychel.

I can. I don't think it is enough and I think better offers than that will be on the table. Rychel is a meh prospect and Anisimov realistically is a top end 3rd line C.

And still get a top ten pick. We differ on Rychel's stock. Sure Anisimov is a 3rd C and a drned good one at that but do the Yotes have anything at Center?

No goalie can bring that team into the playoffs without major upgrades on defense.

Benning says he expects to trade a goalie today or tomorrow.

My guess is Eddie Lack to Buffalo for the 31st pick.

Strome is a really good player potentially though.

Is Rychel, and Anisimov really enough to downgrade from Strome to say Barzal?

Some would say yes. There are some say that there isn't that big a drop from anyone projected to go from 3-10.

Interesting offer. That would give the Coyotes 2 mid-1st's, then their 30 and 32. So potentially 19,25,30,32.

Which is probably the equivalent of 4 first rounders.

That's a great trade for the Canucks imo.

I agree about 4-10 but think that Strome is still a tier above.

Some concern about him playing with McDavid but his NHLe as a 17 year old is higher then all the other top forwards recently (Reinhart, Drouin, Mackinnon, Yakupov, Bennett, Draisaitl).
