I guess the one risk is if they needed to call up a D-man, they would lose that option, but for Bennett it might be worth it.

I would send him to Adirondack. Get him skating and get back in the rhythm of pro hockey and the Flames system. Then call him up. There is always a chance the a couple dmen get injured and you need to call up Wotherspoon.

I'd the Dmen were injured and forced to call up spoon wouldn't thst then be an emergency recall?
I hope they bring Sam to the big club unless the team has clinched a spot when his season is done. I really think he will inject some fire into the lineup and the team will respond with some big wins.

I know most just want to see him in a Flames uniform, but I'd rather Bennett and the Frontenacs get their crap together and go far in the playoffs. Considering the run that they went on when Sam got back, it would be disappointing if they just went 4 and out. This is a character building opportunity, so I personally hope he pulls this team out of this hole and makes a difference when it really matters.
And even if he does become available, the AHL is as far as I go with him this year. The Calgary Flames have a relatively healthy team up front at the moment, so somebody would have to come out of the lineup to slot Bennett in. Do you really sit out a guy like Ferland or Granlund for Bennett right now? Sends kind of a crappy message to the kids who have been fighting for us all year imo. Sam will get his chance next year, there's no need to crowd out other prospects right now.

Give your head a shake.
If the Fronts do go out, it won't be because of Bennett that's for sure.
You want a character building opportunity? Have him be a key reason why we either A) make it into the playoffs in the final games and/or B) provide us some key points in a playoff series where we'll no doubt need the offense.
That's character building!

This is a good point to consider and really the only thing management should be thinking about right now. What's best for Bennetts development.
It's widely accepted that this season has been a success because our young guys have developed in a competitive winning atmosphere. Bennett has the potential to be our best player in 2 years time and I think NHL time this year will benefit both parties to some degree.

Kingston is a notoriously terrible franchise. They have improved a bit lately but still haven't won a playoff series since 1998 and last year they blew a 3-0 lead.
As for the kids who've been here all year... welcome to pro hockey. The best players play. Granlund has been sent up and down about 50 times this year... I'm sure he gets it.

This.
It's make the playoffs time. If Granlund or Shore are that delicate maybe they can bunk with Sven in Vancouver's system.
Does anyone remember who Iggy bumped when he debuted in that playoff series against Chicago?

Yeah I can't think of a better character building activity then exposing him to a playoff stretch drive.
Especially considering he could be the spark we need to put us over the top.
The moment his team is bounced, I hope he's on a Plane to where ever the Flames are.

I would love to see him join the Flames if the Fronts drop out in the OHL playoffs, but my concern is how well does he know the Flames system. I know he spent a lot of time with the Flames this season, but none was on the ice in game situations and little was in practice either.
It still may not be a bad motivational move for the player and the Flames either.
Just my thoughts, anyway.

It surprised me that the guys on the Fan this morning seemed very certain that Bennett would immediately join the Flames if Kingston has an early exit.

We have the possibility of adding another Gaudreau caliber player for the stretch run at no tangible cost and we're surprised the Flames might do it?

Sam Bennett/Kingston Frontenacs discussion
Another possibility would be him being with Calgary and just getting to know the system by practicing and watching from the press box; and if Bob thinks he can contribute, bring him to the lineup.

Another plus is that if he were to join the Flames after Thursday, there are too few games left for him to lose his rookie status for next year...

I think you have to look at the body of work
looked great in the preseason and survived all the cuts despite his shoulder injury
dominates the OHL looking like he's evolved past that level
he's added weight and muscle
his attitude screams game breaker
so you have to look at him, but be smart about it. Play him on the wing with say Jooris and Colborne on the third line, let him jump in and play some powerplay on the second unit.
but leave the top two lines alone for now.
I'm guessing he adds a spark and creats some offense on his own.
talk about adding another great story to a storybook season

We are actually hoping he does get the required 10 games in this year!

If the Flames are in a position where the have to win their remaining games when/if he becomes available....then it seems like a no-brainer to me to bring him up. He would instantly improve the team. The 2nd PP unit could surely use him.
My guess is he will help Kingston turn around this series anyway, and wont be available.

My bet is, if he does get called up, this is the way he starts, but he gives the coaching staff no choice but to give him more ice because he is a beast.
