@TheFakeESPN: Replay reveals ref signals not conflicting-- 2 more refs formed the C and A to complete the YMCA flash mob they thought they were part of.

Rule book states:

Quote:
If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control.
So yes, the call was wrong.

True, but he doesn't. He doens't put his second hand on the ball until Jennings has already maintained posession against his chest. Tate takes his hand off and then as he gets to the ground puts a second hand on the ball and therefore it is not a simultaneous catch and it should have been rulled an interception.

Glad to see Steve Young talking about the NFL being a revered league and using the past tense. The media wasn't hammering this too hard, but now you have Young saying that, Dilfer saying the NFL is insulting his intelligence, and basically all of ESPN finally calling this garbage out. If they don't make a change immediately people are going to lose it. All we're missing is a sportsbook paying out on a GB win regardless of the official outcome.

The locked out officials are going to get everything they are asking for and about 50% on top of it after this debacle.

They reviewed the play, right? Didnt overturn the call. Who was it in the booth? Replacement guy or league guy?

The NFL won't go begging to the refs, they don't care people still watch and will continue to do so.

I will be stunned if there is ANYONE associated with the NFL and makes their living because of it, who will agree with anything that happened at the end of this game. Their livlihoods could be affected by such an occurence as this is no different than having point shaving and such going on. Games are not being decided fairly with the play on the field.

Marriucci was just on the NFL network and as calm as he was, you could tell he was just pissed that such a thing could happen....and he works for the leagues own media outlet!

What makes the whole thing even worse, is that they reviewed it and stayed with the call....simply put, complete incompetance.

The best run league in professional sports has become a mockery of itself. Its unbelievable.

What I can't believe is that they didn't reverse the call on review. Yeah, they screwed up on the field, but they had a chance to get it right and still got it wrong. Crazy bad call. Everything I've been reading has been saying how lucky the NFL was that none of the bad calls cost a team a win. Well, tonight it cost a team a game. A nationally televised prime time game.

There is not way the NFL can attempt to say they stand for the integrity of the game after this.

It isn't like NHL, the booth just advises that the play needs to be reviewed. If it does, the head referee goes under the hood and looks at the replay. The replay officials can advise on rules and so on, but the ultimate decision is it on field referees call.

There is a scathing article on NFL.COM about the replacement official apocalypse.

The stand ins won't call another game.

Certainly makes for compelling television.

I see them not calling the PI, that is rarely if ever called on hail Mary plays. Still missed but 'OK', I guess. That should have been an interception all the way...

Im not so sure at this point.

This call cost people money...many will stay away from watching if they are not gambling on games. Tonight was a prime example of how the officials directly effecred who could or couldnt cash tickets.

I'll be watching an evisceration of my Saints by one pissed off Packers team. Other than that, I likely won't watch another down. Blood will flow at Lambeau, I'm sure.
