We should have no problems rolling over South Africa.

I think Canada is going to be a mainstay in the world group for a while. I doubt we'll ever get anywhere deep but I think our future is bright. Peliwo is coming up just in time to replace Nestor and if his pro career is even half as good as his jr -2x grandslam champ and 2x runner-up this year- then we may finally be a force.

What a great draw for Canada. South Africa was one of the easier teams they could have drawn.. and it's at home.. and then South Africa lost their two best guys (Anderson and De Voost).

Milos is now going to play a guy who's never played singles.

And two nothing...good work from Milos, although the college kid did look like he belonged out there till his head got the better of him in the 3rd and started double faulting consistently.

You say this like it is a regular occurrence. It has only happened four times previously in doubles - four! Nestor is a Canadian Davis Cup legend.

I think USA Canada would be lots of fun. I believe if it is US it will be on Canadian soil and another road trip to Vancouver will be in order!

yeah I think if it's France is on the road and if it's USA it's at home. Everyone else is a coin toss.

Canada draws Spain at home for Davis Cup action in February 2013. The location hasn't been announced, but I'm assuming Vancouver again. It would be great opportunity to see Nadal in action. Of course, that's if he is healthy and on the Spanish roster.

Nadal/Milos would be a great match. I would love to see Milos take him on and beat up on his home turf.

I am so excited I am booking the time off work right now!!!

Do we think that there is any chance they come to Calgary instead of Vancouver? I loved doing the road trip and all but could be great to stay here

I was at the BMO/Round-Up for 2008 (I believe? It was against Mexico.) and I thought it wasn't the best facility. It was a little too dark, but the atmosphere was a lot of fun when the building was filled up. Obviously, Spain and being in the World group adds to that. However, my guess is Vancouver or Toronto gets it.

I hope it is Vancouver over Toronto so I can keep costs down and my wife doesn't kill me. I have all ready booked it off! Time to dust off the old Canada Flag and Scarf again

Oh man we're screwed.

I really doubt that they would put the matches against such a high profile team in Calgary. We don't even have a tennis specific facility.

It is indoors anyways. You can make a court anywhere. UBC wasn't a tennis facility last year. As long as you use a acceptable surface by tennis association they don't care where the match is held

Vancouver doesn't either. They had the matches there at the arena @ UBC, which was renovated for the Olympics.
As for the Corral being used, it is not so much about the actual arena itself, but the other facilities, such as dressing rooms, press facilities etc which would be needed for such a high profile match. Calgary might be in the running, but Vancouver (if the facility @ UBC is available for the 10 days that is needed) would be the first choice.

What about the main gym at UofC?
Can't imagine it would be overly hard to set up?

Not enough seats, not sure about the other facilities, and they need it for almost two weeks...that won't happen during classes/Dinos mid season in volleyball/basketball. The Corral is a better facility for the event, I just figure Vancouver has the upper hand on it after they did a really good job last year, and supported it very well.
