I dunno, nothing in the next 7 days below freezing for a high doesn't scream "winter" to me. We've had a few years in a row of an early October snowfall that disappeared for the rest of the month, so I'm not getting excited yet.

The amount of snow on Saturday has been downgraded from 7 cm to 5 cm to now 2.4 cm. We may get some but it wont be a large amount. It is also looking like it will rebound back up to double digits mid week afterwards. Hopefully we get one more spike upward for Halloween.

EDIT: Downgraded again to 1.8 cm. At this rate we will have minus snow.

I really hope I can take the kids trick or treating this year without trying to stuff a big winter coat under their costume. That's one of the things I miss most about the Okanagan, Halloweens were almost always warm growing up

It can downgrade as much as it wants... I won't complain.

Same with back home in Salem. The final letter sent from my great, great grandma Millicent mentioned how excruciatingly hot it was one Halloween and it just scribbled off into gibberish mid-sentence. She probably went for a swim and forgot to finish the letter before posting it. It's funny, when I look at that letter I swear I can hear faint screams of agony lol.

All this first snowfall ever does is make a mess and force a rush to the tire shops.

The ground is too warm for it to stick around.

Settle down people.

Still not looking forward to the inevitable 200+ crashes it will cause though...

Should be fine still as the ground is warm but I didn’t want to get caught with a sneaker freeze

I wouldn't trust any forecast telling you amounts that specific. There's no way they can predict it to that level. To me that screams "we're just outputting a global weather model with no interpretation at all."

Kevin Stanfield on CTV is just not good at this. The worst was his characterization of the hurricane before it hit the east coast a few weeks ago. Last night though, he was saying all the snow was going to melt as it hit the ground and pretty much “nothing to see here”. I haven’t been out, but it’s clearly more than that.

Any tree casualties this morning? I had some really droopy ones when I woke up, but I did a shake off and everything seemed okay.

Did not expect this much snow!

Close, had a few limbs touching the ground, but blew them off

Their models are garbage. I have basically a foot of snow here on the west side. Not sure how you screw that up so bad.

My nanking cherry bush has been transformed into a creeping nanking cherry. Could win some limbo contests.
