Yep. Build up that value and ship him off. Rip another team off later.

The Rangers need to throw in Adam Fox in any deal.

Comparing Kakko to Andersson is a bit hyperbolic. Andersson never had more than 6 points in a season and had 17 points in 110 NHL games.

Kakko has never had a season with less than 17 points in a season, and at least has a 40-point season under his belt. Even last year, which was widely considered a disaster, he still scored 13 goals - almost twice as many goals as Andersson scored in his entire career.

I like Kakko but he has nowhere near the value of a Kuzmenko. If it was a straight up trade it would be an overpayment by the Flames. There would have to be a + + imo.

If you can get Kaapo Kaako for Andrei Kuzmenko you do that running.

Ya, you would be happy until Kuzmenko puts up 100+ points in New York while Kakko continues to crap the bed. No thanks.

Kuzmenko was just traded as a cap dump. He could increase his value or he could have another bad season and be worth nothing. Best case scenario he gets a late 1st and throw in prospect. I don’t mind the gamble on Kakko over another late first.

Games played with Flames 29: 14 goals, 11 assists. Revitalizes flames PP.
“Bad season”

That’s not happening. I give it 0.001% chance. If it does happen because the stars align and god says yes, we pick 16th overall and get a 1st + 3rd for him as a rental or are forced to resign him to a dumb contract that we will regret.

Either way, give me Kakko and a top 5 pick.

I would say there's a better chance that Kuzmenko doesn't score 100 more points in total in his entire NHL career than he puts up 100 in a single season with the Rangers, and I like him

Kuzmenko could put up 100 points...but I'd say it's much more likely he puts up 50 points...and honestly I'd laugh even if he puts up 100 points because that likely means that whatever team traded for him or some other team would've giving him way too big of a contract for something he'd be very unlikely to ever repeat again...especially since he's going to be 29 turning 30 at the start of his next contract

Then we can boo him 42 times a season.

Kuzmenko was a cap dump a few months ago, if he can get your a struggling former high end prospect then you do it. I don't think he'll had the "++" value anything thinks. If he isn't scoring he brings nothing to the table.

If Conroy can turn Kuzmenko into Kakko?

You get a 1st, a 4th, two defensive prospects and a tarnished 28 year old asset back in a trade (when you sent out a tarnished 29 year old asset), and then polish that 28 year old asset back up and then send him off for a 23 year old (somewhat dusty) recent top end pick?

That'd have the potential to turn a homerun Lindholm trade into a grand slam.

He was traded by a bad GM who wanted to balance out the salary. That Lindholm trade was awful at the time the trade took place and looks even worse now.

Once he got healthy and felt comfortable here he was scoring at a 128 point pace on the Calgary Flames. You don't think he can hit 100 playing with Panarin and Zibanijad? I would bet good money he would.

He’d have to stay on a line with them. Anyone can have a run, it’s being able to do it day after day for 82 games straight.

If anyone else saw 100 point player in him they would have had him.

We will see. I think Kuzmenko has elite skill and we have not seen his best yet.

You can put me in the Kuzmenko camp as well. The guy has shown me can be elite offensively. That's a skill we don't have on our roster. Moreover, it will only be his 3rd season in the league so there's more there.

For me it comes down to what will it take to keep him. If we're looking at an 8 year extension then I think we should trade him to the highest bidder. However, if we could get him to sign a contract similar to Sharangovich I would be all for it.

I don't know what Kakko is, but I would be disappointed if he topped out as a 30-40P player, while Kuzmenko puts up 35-40G for the next 5 years.
