Would Ottawa be players if it meant Tkachuk bros playing together?

Tkachuk is miles better and has a way higher ceiling, no thanks

Idk, if the offer was Tkachuk for Batherson and Norris, I would definitely be intrigued. Won’t happen though, as that would leave them low on centers. Batherson is big, a bit owly, and a good skater-reminds me of a Brandon Saad. Can’t see him hitting the heights offensively like Tkachuk though.
Norris is a bigger C, at 6’2” with skill

I did mention a +, maybe I guess it should even be a ++?? I’m the first to admit I don’t quite seem to match CP’s opinion on most proposals or speculative deals.
Batherson + White + 1st doesn’t have you listening?? Don’t get me wrong I like Tkachuk and I hope Sutter can get the most out of him but he is in a Mark Stone Contract trajectory and you have to consider all options at this point. Of all the stars on this team during Wards time this year Tkachuk’s effort frustrated me the most.
I guess something to consider too would obviously be the expansion draft, adding more players to have to protect isn’t worth it at the end of the day.

I like Batherson a lot, but I doubt he’s someone Ottawa wants to move, especially with all the adds they’d have to make. I’m not sure the Tkachuk bros together is really that much of a selling point, since they play the same position.

White’s not bad, kind of a poor man’s Backlund. I would say his ceiling is a good 3C.

That’s true, but it would still be pretty awesome for them if they could put out 2 lines with a Tkachuk on each one. Plus, Chucky has played RW for short stretches, albeit with mixed results.

White has had a decent bounceback year but I wouldn't touch his contract with a 10' pole.

I would consider trading Tkachuk prior to the QO.
But I'd want a comparable player not a package. Fwiw I think there may be some options for this. People are gonna hate but Laine for example.

Would no doubt do this but have to think Ottawa declines that at this point

I don’t think so, for both teams, Ottawa is building and years away from being competitive, and I and not sure that right now what a 19 year old does to move the needle for Calgary.
It may even make both teams worse from a long term perspective. As underwhelming as MT has been. He still has 23 points in 28 games.

As much as it likely doesn’t help Calgary this year, they would jump at this trade. The value would simply be too good to pass up. They could even trade him for current value and improve the team. The contract situation is a large part of the valuation equation.

I agree with a lot of what youre saying. It may also be tough to lose some of Tkachuks intangibles and leadership. Although as a rookie Stutzle is 17 pts in 28 games which ain't too bad. Also nice that he plays a position that would let us either bring Lindholm back to wing as I imagine Stutzle would shelter behind Mony and Backs on the 3rd line, or play as a winger early on negating the Lindy move for now.
Like Monahammer and you said, probably ain't happening either way. I would just love to see if the flames retool at any point that they could grab someone high-end like this in a position like C. The money saved with a trade like this would be pretty nice cap space to help out until looch and gio's deals come off.

I’m sure Ottawa can throw in Chabot and Batherson too. No way their cheap owner wants that many players earning high contracts.

There's no way the sens would give up Batherson with Stutzle for just Tkachuck....we'd probably have to add. Can we throw in a Hanowski or something? It's too bad Janko, everyone added him to every deal.

I'm pretty sure the Stutzle suggestion was a joke...

Mainly joking because I am doubtful that deal is ever actually available, but with the right extra pieces thrown in I think that's a trade I'd be seriously considering if it was on the table

Probably the worst trade proposal I've seen from the Athletic:
https://twitter.com/user/status/1371489203293331458
Scott Burnside with the crappiest homer Leafs trade possible. Kerfoot, a horrible prospect and a pick for one of the most dynamic offensive players in the league.
