No one really offered a view on what it would take because it would be foolish to try to move him

You’re wrong...

Folks said that a team (hypothetically Carolina) would accept a second to take Neal and that we shouldn’t do it because it was a one sided deal.

As a matter of fact you said that a second was a knee jerk reaction...hence my warning to the original poster from suggesting a 1st when a number of you made fun of me for suggesting a 2nd

https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpo...postcount=1676

But let’s leave that for the Neal thread, shall we?

Okay after watching the Ottawa and Toronto game I have decided that I would love to have Craig Andersson as a backup on this team.

Guy plays with passion, comes up with huge saves to keep his team in it, rarely will let in soft goals (even on a terrible Ottawa team) and most importantly he's got a good resume for playoff hockey. If David Rittich went down with an injury he's a reliable goaltender who knows how to dial in and face the music.

He is in the 1st year of a 2 year contract with a $4,750,000 cap hit so here's my proposal.

John Gilles
Michael Stone
2019 3rd round pick (2020 2nd if Calgary makes the Western Finals)

for

Craig Andersson (15% retained)

and then pass Smith through waivers, maybe someone takes him, maybe they don't.

Good advice, we know exactly how you feel about Neal as you've told us over and over.

No idea why you brought him up in this thread.

I didn’t...but why let facts get in the way. It literally would have taken 10 seconds to research your nonsensical post

Carolina Hurricanes have pulled back a bit in the effort to trade Mike Ferland. See how the next few games go. May use Ferland as an “own rental” in playoff push.
GM talking to Carolina GM: Wait. Ferland has how many goals in the past 22 games? Didn't he do that last year? Yeah. My 1st is off the table but I'd consider my 3rd... and you can't have the prospect playing on the 1st line in the CHL but you can have the 24 year old I have "marinating" in the AHL.

Ferland would be a good pick up for any playoff team. He is not a 1st line super star but he is a 2nd or 3rd line player. His price will come down and i hope Tre can make a deal soon. What he is worth i don't know. But i believe he will be moved.

Anyone suggesting we take a run at Doughty has not watched him this year. I am convinced of that. Don’t let the all-star game fool you. Unless you’re not a believer that a defenceman should be in anyway whatsoever responsible for, say, defence.

Not to mention the contract, which is a whole other hilarious issue for LA.

Oh LA may look to deal him???? Shocking............... (it’s not shocking).

Not certain why Ottawa trades their starting goalie for some stuff.

You’d need to lead with your 1st for sure.

All this Neal talk has made this thread too tense...we need a classic CP trade offer:

Andersson
Stone

For

1st
Smith
Mangipane
Frolik
(Maybe we re aquire hanowski to throw him in too)

BUT, it has to happen now to make sense!

so McKenzie on NBC said last night that the Boyle for a 2nd trade have increased seller expectations. While Boyle is a quality depth player, teams selling players higher in the depth chart are now excited about potentially getting 1sts.

With that in mind he says that the Rangers think getting a 1st and something for Hayes would be fantastic.

If Rangers could get Zuccarello for a 1st or top prospect that would be great.

Thinks that McQuaid will return the Rangers a Nick Holden-style return of a 4th and 7th round pick.

There is almost no chance that the Rangers move Zibanejad unless they get a ridiculous offer but nobody is anticipating that.

Kreider's price is high. Kreider still has a year on his contract and the Rangers will want a foundational building block young player that's very close to playing in the NHL. Not going to trade him for just a draft pick and a fair to middling prospect.

I'm still holding out hope that Neal turns it on down the stretch and into the playoffs and at least comes close to earning his salary. Lots of players need a year to adjust to a new team/city. I think everyone will forget how wildly mediocre he's been if he scores a couple of clutch goals in the playoffs

Yeah that kind of thing simply cant be allowed to continue.

The guy who steals your stuff is probably to stupid to come up with it him/her self so it can be taken as a compliment to a degree, but it has to be stopped.
