I don’t think this gets done unless Pelletier, or Wolf, or Coranato was involved. However I would do it.
Lindy
Schiefele
Backs
ruzicka
Would be miserable and I think Matty would be gone long term to make it happen.

lol imagine taking our current line up and swapping in Scheifele for Monahan.
I would be fine giving up a great many future pieces to make that happen.

I wouldn't. We need those young futures to keep the team rolling and the salary cap under control.

Getting Scheifele would be transformative in a good way.Unbelievably deep group of forwards.
If we were to go the other way and aquire Klingberg, we would have the best D core in the league.

That's funny, because I think Zary is the best prospect out of the names there. Don't let production fool you. He's playing with some pretty craptastic talent in the minors and is being asked to refine his game to become that more complete player. Play him up the lineup in Stockton and his scoring comes alive.

Yes, that would be very formidable.

One of Tkachuk, Gaudreau, or Mangiapane is gone this summer, regardless of who else leaves town. The budget numbers just look like that is the reality we're facing. I would not be disappointed to see Tkachuk dealt as I think he has the greatest value and could return some serious prospects that make the team stronger in the near and long-term.

Actually I have Zary in the top five but won’t have the name recognition that Eolf and Pelletier have right now.

Agree on this as well. I think Matty is gone but would have no problem doing it with top six Centers locked up for a couple of years.

Personally, I think the following is an overpay, but if that is the model that could get Scheifele into the fold, I would seriously consider it, but only if this played out like the following.
To WPG: Monahan, Coronato, 2023 1st round pick (top 10 protected), 2022 2nd round pick (FLA)
To CGY: Scheifele
Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Scheifele-Toffoli
Dube-Backlund-Coleman
Lucic-Ruzicka-Lewis
Come off season, Gaudreau and Mangiapane get extended long-term.
To OTT: Tkachuk and Valimaki
To CGY: Batherson, Sanderson, Sokolov
Gaudreau-Lindholm-Batherson
Mangiapane-Scheifele-Toffoli
Pelletier-Backlund-Coleman
Dube-Ruzicka-Sokolov
Lucic
Hanifin-Andersson
Tanev-Kylington
Gudbrannson-Zadorov
Sanderson-Kinnvall

These big ticket acquisitions are sexy and all, but I also believe you don't want to tinker with the room either. These kinds of deals and really upset the apple cart.

Re-acquiring Mark Giordano should definitely be considered if we are looking for more depth on the blueline for a potential deep playoff run. If acquisition costs are similar with other available D man out there, there's no way Tre doesn't put Gio on the top of his list.
Remember the reasons why we acquired Toffoli. He fit a need of a right handed shot scoring winger. He was familiar with the roster. He's played for the coach and had success before. Acquisition costs were reasonable.
If someone didn't mention the name Toffoli and listed those same qualities (with RHS Winger switched to solid D depth) you'd definitely be thinking of Gio.
I don't believe Gio would be a distraction at all. Mark Giordano has never been about Mark Giordano. The man gave everything he had for the team and the city for 15 years and 8 as the captain. To add that kind of a quality of a person on top of still being a very effective NHL defender would be a dream.
Bring Gio home!!!!!!..... please.

Pass on Giordano. Let the past be the past and look to the future. Reunion tours rarely catch the energy of the original band.

Especially so close to the actual time of separation.

After seeing some of that game last night, we need to get Brodin out of Minnesota. He's McDavid's kryptonite.

Actually looks better now. Holy depth Batman. That RW is just nasty. All four lines should be dangerous and mean to play against.

I was thinking about this the other day and was wondering if someone on this board would have the answer.
Are the Flames even allowed to trade their 2023 1st rounder? As it is attached to the Toffoli deal in principle...

Transformative trades aren't required. Let's hope everyone stays happy and healthy the rest of the season and then add at the deadline for some vet depth.
That shouldn't include Gio.
I think the players in the room and the leadership now in the room has moved on from him and pulling him back, minus (knock on wood) one of our top 6 D out for the season (even then there are other options), I think would be more awkward than helpful.

Jets are not moving Scheifele in season. That’s a draft or off-season move and multiple firsts are in that package, IMO

Some names off the last few pages.
Judging by the below:
-McCann over Jarnkrok
-De Haan over Braun/Klingberg/Giordano (we'd have to pull off some LTIR bullcrap probably... but hey, if TB and Vegas can do it!)
