One example would be a Guranteed income. Instead of Medicare, social security, public education, mental health programs, anti poverty programs, school breakfast programs and every other program that is a social welfare program you just give people an minimum income which provides a certain standard of living and its up to them to decide how to do it.

Probably the biggest, and most obvious, one is the war on drugs.
I think, however, that the discussion of incumbent favorable regulations, military procurement, minimum wage, lobbying corruption, questionable federal agencies (education), etc. are beyond the scope of this thread.

Yeah, the problem with that is that people are generally not very smart or are more prone to seek out short term gains over better longterm gains. The latter has been studied numerous times and it's not a personality flaw, it's something that's hardwired into most people.

I'm not saying its good policy but Libertarianism is a lot more then just let people pull themselves up. Its much more make decisions as close to the actual problem as possible.

This is a pretty bizarre speech by Trump, even by his standards. Bringing up New Jersey Muslims celebrating 9/11, mocking the disabled reporter, Megyn Kelly's wherever....is he already becoming a re-run?

No, I get that the idea is empowering people to live their lives the way they want to and smaller government is the way to accomplish it. I just think it's incredibly naive and sometimes callous.

You've got to consider where he is. Colorado Springs is hardcore right wing central. It's all military and Focus on the Family people.

Darn crooked fire marshals:
Sopan Deb
Sopan Deb – Verified account @SopanDeb
In CO, Trump went hard after the fire marshal, saying he/she might be a Clinton supporter: "A disgraceful situation"

No offense to Dilbert, but I'm pretty sure my theory that he's going through a dementia episode is probably closer to being right than Trump being some savant.

Well this is too bad. Anne Coulter had almost gotten totally irrelevant and now she's managed to find her way back into the news.

Quote:
In a misspelled tweet referencing CNN host Fareed Zakaria, Ms. Coulter responded: “You know what this convention really needed? An angry Muslim with a thick accent like Fareed Zacaria.”
|
And see this is where I kind of roll my eyes when people want to make the argument that there's a distinction between bigotry and racism against Muslims.

Earlier today, Donaldo Trump said live on CNN, that CNN has stopped covering him, because "they do not like him." Keep in mind he said this live on CNN.
Sadly, I am not making this up.
