Boy am I happy OEL will be headed elsewhere. Did not want him on the Flames. That contract is atrocious.
I'm still anticipating Taylor Hall as a Flame.
Bobby Ryan In PHI adds more wrinkles to their roster.

I’m personally happy OEL rejected the deal.
Want no part of that contract and moving young pieces for it.

I hope more players with anchor contracts have the Flames on their no-trade list. It protects Treliving from himself.

Preds would consider moving a centre.
Mild interest in Johansen if some money was retained but I don’t really see a fit there unless they take a Hanifin package or possibly a one for one swap for Backlund?
Probably makes more sense for a team like the Wild or Jets

It would seem a majority of players with trade protection disagree.

That's likely weather related more than city related. I suspect why Vancouver seems to escape that same fate is that 10 degrees and rainy is somewhat more palatable than -10 degrees and snowy.

Yeah I can't say that I'm not relieved to hear that the OEL thing is cooling off.

This is great news, no need to pursue that guy. Let's focus on building a good defense core with what we have. Gio/Hanafin/Andersson/Kylington/Valimaki sounds great to me.

Tyson Barrie all of a sudden becomes less likely to sign in Vancouver now. He will still be one of the top 3 or 5 most sought after FA D men though. Meaning likely too steep a price for CGY.

Except in the winter, when it's 5 degrees and raining in Vancouver I would much rather take the dry cold of -20 in Calgary. That biting, cold with humidity is terrible.

Dicklund is saying that the Flames are showing "strong interest in Palmieri".
So maybe there is more smoke to Johnny to NJ. Palmieri is only one year remaining on his contract so it gives him a good chance to Prove himself if he wants to stay and doesn't lock us into anything too long term. Lindholm, Palmieri, Dube, Mangiapane on the right side sounds pretty stellar to me for next year.
Gaudreau for Palmieri 18th and 20th? Probably a throw in of some kind from Calgary. Picking three consecutive times in the first round would be pretty incredible, gives us a chance to draft positional needs really quickly, or trade 2/3 of them to move up. Perhaps all three gets you in the top three picks? Or could be moved for a serious upgrade; Barkov?

Sorry I have a chip on the my shoulder. I love this city and it irrationally bothers me that a lot of former Flames don't live here and current players like Kadri and OEL don't want to come here.
