Nope it’s a first and he will be overpaid when he inevitably signs his 5 year extension in Calgary. 100%.
Of course I’m not interested in Palmieri if that would be the case. I just don’t think it is, and he fills a role we need filled. Solid player.

I certainly don't need an explanation about what our player (Hanifin) is, but thank you.
I'm fully aware and absolutely on the side of you don't trade Hanifin.
I've used pre existing rumors to sum up the idea of a package for Hanifin (who they previously rebuked in the hall trade package) as they had been down that road before and a trade would obviously have much more coming the Flames way.
I previously postulated that 18 and 20 would be something fun for Hanifin too. But perhaps one of those, Palmieri and another piece coming would be okay too.
Also, I'm posting about Hanifins trade as it seems a couple.of media types think he is on the move anyways.
But just so yall understand, I absolutely do not want Hanifin traded, never been on that side of the fence with him. My posting history will tell you this.

Palmieri also has an 8 team no trade list and being that he is from the East coast i wouldnt be surprised if the Flames are on that.
He would certainly be a welcome addition to this club though.

Why would the Bruins spend assets for OEL who has a 8.5 cap hit when Torey Krug could be re-singed for free and is not that far off from OEL.

I would rather see Hanifin, Dube, and potentially Zavgorodniy given expanded roles. Acquiring Palmieri seems pointless to me unless he comes cheap, which he won’t.

Yup, Palmieri would be a perfect fit for the Flames.
There are good vets to bring in and bad/risky ones. He's one of the good apples.
Imagine getting good futures for Johnny, then bringing in Hall and Palmieri. I like that trade off and our subsequent top six a lot more for the playoffs.
Adding size, grit and speed between the two.

Can't say I am disappointed to see we are out on OEL.

Good, I don't want a $8.25M Dman that hasn't looked great for several years.

^ I'm quite ok with that, not a bad player, just can't fit his contract into the Flames right now

OEL in Vancouver has to be the end of Markstrom? Can’t see them bringing in that cap hit and finding the money to keep Markstrom in the fold?

I have decided to spend some time this afternoon at the Starbucks closest to my house. I'll be doing some writing and keeping tabs on news.
Seems that whenever I come here, news always breaks. Last time I visited, the Habs signed Joel Edmundson almost immediately after I walked in the door. I remember coming here just moments before Nazem Kadri was traded to Colorado last year.
So, get ready for a busy afternoon.

Great news about OEL, I hope the Canucks spend a lot to get him. He can bleed goals for them, cost them assets, and a large chunk of cap. Make it so.

Unless contracts are going back the other way, we are unlikely to re-sign any of our marquee UFAs.
I really want nothing to do with OEL.
