Alien and Aliens are both masterpieces in filmmaking, heck even Alien 3 is very good and a few tweaks away from greatness. This Mother's Day what better movie to watch than Aliens.
Also it shouldn't be a negative that Aliens is about motherhood, Interstellar is about fatherhood and no one has ever used that as a negative against the film.

Watched The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. I've always been a big fan of Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton and here they make an excellent on screen romance. Burt just oozes cool, he really was one of a kind. It's a musical about a brothel in Texas run by Dolly, and the sheriff played by Reynolds turns a blind eye to it, they are also seeing each other. Everything is fine until a TV journalist creates a moral outrage and the place comes under attack. It's got some great original songs and is hilarious, the film never takes it's self too seriously.
I watched Y Tu Mama Tambien, it's not hyperbole to say it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's the film that put Alfonso Cuaron on the map, the story is 2 Mexican teens who just graduated high school meet an older Spanish women at a wedding and convince her to go to this beach with them. If you watched Challengers and enjoyed it, give this one a go I think it's the superior film. The film is part road trip film, part stoner/sex comedy but very heartwarming with a emotional gut punch ending.
It is however certified fresh, so maybe a second opinion is required here.
Sure, here's one.
It's a very fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, and is a love letter to stunt performers everywhere. Gosling is extremely affable and relatable, and the story does just enough to satisfy viewers for a plot to follow. Hannah Waddingham is amazing in her role. It's a little cheesy at times, but full marks for the entertainment value, and pretty funny at times as well. I haven no idea what he is referring to as "boomer humor", I didn't get that vibe at all.
7.5/10. Not the best movie you'll ever see, but definitely worth a watch.

Caught a couple of new to me movies on Criteron this weekend.
I somehow hadn't seen Go (1999). Wanted even more Sarah Polley than I got. I'm still kinda shocked that I hadn't seen this in University, would have loved it then. Solid base hit for me now.
The other was Suddenly, Last Summer (1959) which is a Tennesse Williams adaptation staring Montgomery Cliff, Katherine Hepburn, and Liz Taylor. I really dug that one. But it's probably not for everyone.

Dune: Part Two - really good, I enjoyed it but not sure I found it as superior to the first part like it's been hyped up to be. The two obviously work together -- I found it to both move very slow in the first half, and then too quickly in the second half where it would seem like characters personalities changed almost scene to scene.
Spoiler!
The final battle also seemed too easy for our heroes, the emperor's super army went down like chumps
. I was slightly annoyed in it ending in another cliffhanger too.
Unfrosted - an okay comedy lampooning the battle between Kelloggs and Post to get a Pop Tart product to the shelf first. Star studded cast, very average humor writing, scene parodying the Jan 6th insurrection attempt felt a bit too soon maybe? -- not a lot of big laughs but was reasonably entertaining for a lazy Sunday evening.
