I’m wondering why they couldn’t go with Bassitt or Lauer in that situation if they didn’t want to go closer. Sure they’re ’long guys’ but they’d be coming in with a clean slate. Why are they necessarily worse than the high leverage guys?

Yeah. They are both more effective pitchers than Little, and Lauer is also a lefty if that is impirtant to you.

I think the Jays could come back and win against the Mariners, but I don't see how any team in the league could compete against the Dodgers right now. Ohtani had the best singular performance of all time last night, in a sport that's almost 200 years old. He had more home runs than hits allowed, he basically beat the Brewers singlehandedly. It's crazy to me that in such a long storied sport we're witnessing the GOAT live, and he could still go for another 10 years if he wants to

I'm ok with it if they lose to the Dodgers because the Dodgers have better players. And I would sure enjoy watching that even if they lose.
It sucks if they lose to the Mariners because Schneider had a "too-clever-for-his-own-good" defect.

Imagine my shock when I left the pub at 2-1, then got home at 6-2.

I hate the Dodgers. But I'll take getting swept by them over losing to a team the Blue Jays should be able to beat. Even moreso after what happened last night.
If they still make it Schneider's mistake will always be looked at as horrible but not devastating like it will if they lose.

Sure, but let’s play the games and find out.
If they can overcome this hurdle that their own manger set up in their way, they’ll have accomplished a successful season already and be fast and loose and nothing to lose when it comes to the Dodgers.
Jays won more games over this season than the Dodgers. All it takes is a few game slump for them and the Jays continue to hit and who knows.

Except Joe Biagini who he refused a hug from in 2016. That's probably my biggest ###### memory of him.

Schneider’s managerial philosophy is to use the entire roster. Worked out fine in the regular season keeping the pitchers rested and allowing bench players to step up, but it’s the wrong strategy in the playoffs. Play your best players!

Schneider is trying to do right by Little by doing the honorable thing by focusing the media attention on him and his decision. I appreciate it, but I wish he just made the right choice in the first place so he didn't have to do the honorable thing.
He just makes it so hard on himself sometimes.

Well I mean he did pin it all on Little. Saying he made the right decision and it was the player who didn’t perform. It’s not like he fell on the sword saying he put little in an impossible situation against their best players or something.

Yeah he literally said “players have to go perform”. Kind of the opposite of focusing attention on his decision.

Yeah he put it on Little.
The information he had must have been dated to say that Little should be the one stepping in there.
And to note: the night before when he went out to the mound to try and motivate Scherzer (for some reason, looked almost for show now) he said after the game it was about “people”, which, if it was in Little’s case, he can’t read people well at all because Little has looked scared ####less each time in the last month when he’s come in and has pitched like it most of the time.

We just got back from Seattle from going to Game 5. I'm both a Blue Jays fan (National pride being Canadian) and the Mariners due to their affiliation during the 80's and early 90's with the PCL Calgary Cannons, we went to a lot of games as a kid.
I lean more towards the Mariners as we moved down here in the early 90's and Junior is my favorite player ever.
A few thoughts from the game:
1. As usual, Jays fans are amazing, I love going to Mariners games when the Jays are in town, the stadium is always buzzing no matter what and I love talking to my fellow Canadians (I miss you all).
2. I was LIVID and both my wife and I yelled at some of the Mariners fans around me when they were booing Springer after he got hurt. Abhorrent behavior and really what I'd expect from Seahawks fans (I HATE the Seahawks and football in general), there were a lot of people there that weren't "baseball people".
3. I've never felt anything like it at a live sporting event during Geno's grand slam. That building shook!
4. Whomever wins this series, PLEASE destroy the Dodgers!
