29-10 Edmonton in the third quarter.

If Edmonton wins the West is ours.

Looks like our Stampeders will clinch the 1st spot in the West. 2:41 left in the game and Eskimos are ahead 32-10. Oooops I guess Eskimos just scored another TD int.

Just as susoect, Saskatchewan LBs are weak. I don't understand why the media are hyping up Barrin Simpson and even calling him the Minister of Defense. The guy sucks and couldn't stop a runner.

It feel kind of strange to cheer for Edmonton team but I have to.

Congrats to the Stampeders. I wonder if Burris will get one of the last 2 games off?

I am sure they'll play him even in half a game for both games or he'll play first half in the first game then take the day off in the last game. Don't be surprise to see Darryl Clark(3rd stringer) get some plays as well even for a quarter or less.

Still can't belive the Stamps lost last night...PVR cut out at 8 mins to go and Calgary was in firm control and moving the ball at will. But the Franklin drop explains it.

Anyways, hope BC can catch that 3rd spot in the West and then give a flailing Saskatchewan all they can handle as they pick it up here.

By no means am I coronating the Stamps to win the West Final as there are some kinks to be worked out there, but having an improved BC and (to a lesser degree/interest in seeing them do well) Edmonton, Rider nation may want to think twice about making plans to pile 8 guys in the truck and in the Calgary hotel room. The West Semi Final could be a war...especially if Sask plays cold and BC or EDM continues momentum the next two weeks.

Eric Tillman signs Kerry Joseph.

Haha. Seriously, Eric? That guy is really overrated as a GM. I wonder what that says about Ricky Ray's future in Dumpsville.

But yea....Joseph and Armstead - two old retreads Eric has had before. I really hope the Eskimos somehow make it through to the West final. We would destroy them.

BC Lions crying foul on Nik Lewis hit on LB Adam Leonard. Wow, that was pathetic! The hit was legal and that Solimon or whatever his name is such a moron for claiming Leonard was not in play. How the heck does he know when he too was chasing Burris at that time. If Lewis didn't block Leonard, he might be one tackling Burris to the ground. I guess he was ticked off that he got fined for dirty hit on Ricky Ray. The big difference with the hit was the BC guy hit Ricky Ray with the helmet while Nik Lewis hit Leonard with his shoulder.

On other notes, I was thinking about those guys making a mockery of CFL refereeing and ruling way back then. I am not saying CFL is perfect but every league has it flaws. What about the brutal call by the referee at the end between Pittsburgh and Miami. Weird call. It was a fumble but Pittsburgh keeps the ball because it was inconclusive on who recovered the ball. The replay clearly showed Miami player recovered it and some of the players was saying the ref yelled white ball. Anyways, i am not saying CFL is better. I am just saying every league referees and rulings whether in football, hockey, basketball are not perfect.

Back to CFL topic. I just don't understand why Eskimos GM Tillman signed Kerry Joseph as a backup when what's his face(Maas) is still around as a backup. Looks like the Eskimos will be the ex-Riders team soon.

If you read the NFL thread here you will see just as much whining about incompetent reffing as in this thread...maybe more.

and it certainly looks like "no Maas" in Edmonton!!

agreed on the reffing, its a common complaint in most sports

as for the Esks, Joseph did win a Grey Cup, so he has that experience, then again, so has Crandell. I understand bringing in Joseph if Ray is out, but I think Zabransky is capable, and don't understand why they waste a roster spot on Maas if they aren't going to use him. I guess in case Zabransky can't cut it, but Maas isn't a young prospect or anything. I guess just to teach, but then they should just make him the QB coach

I love the CFL and have for decades...going back to the 1970 Grey Cup as my first clear recollection of watching it. Also I remember the division semi finals were best of 3 game affairs. Still remember Larry Robinson (most underrated player in Stamps history BTW) kicking the last second FG in Regina during a blizzard (coldest game ever IIRC) to send the Stamps to the GC, because it gave the Stamps a 2-1 series win....and it was the 3rd game in 8 days.

I also recall that the West teams played 16 games during the season and the East only 14. Weird for sure, but its just how the CFL rolled back then.

That being said, its truly embarressing that either the Eskimos or the Lions will be a playoff team this year. Particularly the Esks if they make it. Right now they sit at a
-168 pt PF/PA differential. Thats atrocious...worst in the league by a mile. Yet i believe they will get in...bush league stuff there. Though I admit I have no idea how to makle it any better other than eliminating 2 PO spots and just having the top 2 teams play for the division crown and then go to the GC.

3 games in 8 days? thats crazy
anyways yea it would be nice to have less teams in, but on the other hand it means no team is really out until very late in the season, and teams can get hot near the end (like edmonton and BC right now) which is cool. although at the same time it devalues the early season games, as a team can fall apart and start with 1 win in the first half and still make the playoffs.
having just the divisional championship in each division (maybe go back to the 2 game series) would be nice but the owners would never go for it, need the money from hosting the semi.
this is why they need to get to 10 teams. Once Ottawa is in (2013!), Winnipeg shifts over and you add another team in the east in the next 10 years hopefully (hopefully sooner!) then you have 6 of 10 teams making the playoffs, which is fine, two teams miss out in each division.
someday, but until then this is the way it is, and I know its different but the NHL used to have 4 of 6 teams make the playoffs...

Expanding to 10 teams will make this better. 6 out of 10 teams making the playoffs.

I wouldn't have expected the score to be so close at halftime for Toronto. Wow.

Toronto with a costly interception with 60 seconds to go and the game tied. This will probably be the game.

EDIT: What the hell was that. Toronto could have put it to overtime, unbelieveable!
