I think if Dez Bryant falls to the Broncos, they have to scoop him up. They need that big play receiver, and Bryant epidomizes that.
NO! Get Benn or someone later. 11 has to be used for D or O line. The only way I'm comfortable with them taking Bryant at 11 is if they can get Spikes in the 2nd and another O-line guy as well.
And yes, I realize that kind of contradicts what I said earlier in this thread about warming up to getting Bryant at 11.

I'm pretty sure they're high on Gilyard from Cincinnatti. I could see this...
11. McClain
43. Pouncey (could be gone)
45. Gilyard
Since we need WR's so badly, I'm really hoping to see them sign Marc Mariani after the draft!

That would address some of the Bronco's needs, but I suspect Pouncy isn't going to get past the Colts if he even lasts that long. It does seem that many teams may hold off till the second round until they decide to move on a wide receiver. Seems to be a decent supply of 2nd round grade receivers, and only Dez Bryant seems to be getting a first round grade.

I will again express my hope that the Broncs take Spikes. I love that he's an eye gouging arse. That's the kind of filthy anger I want in a MLB.
What's your feeling on Woodyard?

With the addition of Marshall the Fins have traded Ted Ginn to the 49ers for a 5th round pick according to Mort and Schefter.
Yup, the 145th overall pick. That should fill in the return man position that has been missing for a few years, as well as a bit of depth in the WR corps.

DFF, I'm still of the beleif that you guys will scoop up Bryant, because that's where your biggest need is now. You can't go into the season with Royal/Stokley or even Royal/Benn. You need a playmaker to make players like Royal and Stokley better.
And if there's a team I see taking Spikes, it's the Broncos.
With Pouncey, I've been reading he could go earlier than we all thing in the late teens and early 20s of the first round.

Royal is a playmaker. You forgot Gaffney, and I expect McKinley to step up in his 2nd year. Like I said before, I'm ok with Bryant at 11 if they can address bigger needs in the 2nd round. An elite WR isn't necessary, balance is. And what the Broncos really need is to address the O-line. Moving away from the ZBS, they need to really bulk up the line for the power scheme. Outside of Clady at LT and Harris at RT (if healthy), basically the entire O line needs to improve.
As far as the Spikes / McClain thing, Alfred Williams made a good point on the radio today. The Broncos already have a McClain type in DJ Williams. What they need is an Al Wilson type, a mean, do anything banger. Spikes fits that role a lot better IMO.

The Broncos have not been the same since Wilson was injured. That event started the snowball and Darrent Williams' murder tilted the slope to near 180 degrees.
Not only have they never replaced him positionally, but more importantly they have never replaced his leadership. Al Wilson was special.

Thank god, as a Dolphins fan I now have no reason to want to violently murder Cam Cameron every Sunday. Besides his name.
LOL so true, I still remember after they drafted him and I was so pissed off and then that bozo Cameron said they just didn't draft Ginn they drafted Ginn and his family. LOL yes his family is great so lets draft him. Gotta love it.
Quote:
then-coach Cam Cameron told a crowd of booing fans that the Dolphins ``drafted the Ginn family.''
``Ted Ginn and his family will give us everything they have,'' Cameron said. ``I promise you that.'']
^^^
I still remember Brady Quinn's reaction from the green room on '07 Draft Day when Miami selected Ginn. You could see him mouth the words "that's surprising". Not that Quinn's worked out any better, but I think it just illustrates what a bad pick it was then, and that it looks even worse now.
EDIT: Found it. I heart Youtube. About the 20sec mark.
