You're not that behind, I think it came out on monday. I'm with you, I don't like games on the phone that aren't simple. there's just something about a tactile button press.

I got it a couple hours after it was released. It's fun and it's better than most games out there, but I'm still pretty "GTA'd out" on the whole.

Ahhh. I see the light.
Okay, now that makes sense. Being that the iPhone isn't really capable of editing or changing documents, I didn't see a reason for it. But what you guys have pointed out is fantastic. I'll have to look into adding that to repertoire of apps.

Horrible geek alert:
I just made a spreadsheet in numbers for a sushi order. All rolls named, priced out, quantities entered, total cost including tax, total # of pieces per individual ... it goes on and on. It truly is something to see.
Anyways, the point of displaying my nerdy parts to the world is to note that i quickly pdf'd the document, sent to my dropbox and now I'll have an easy order sheet to compare when I get there straight from my phone.
First person to point out I could have done it on a piece of paper gets his geek license revoked.

I just bought the GTA Chinatown Wars, Ill play it tomorrow and let you all know.
But my 5 top Apps I paid for:
1. iRelax Premium - I have bad insomnia at times. This thing has 28 different relaxing sounds, and 4 waves to suit your sleep needs (deep sleep, napping, dreaming, etc) I didn't think the waves worked but if you hit play on one of them, you'll actually feel it in your head. It's trippy. But nothing like falling to sleep to the sounds of being on a train with a storm outside. Or being camping by a fire with a slight wind.
2. Own This World - 99 cents. As much as I freak out here and there about it - that just shows how much it's worth. I don't whine about "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire".
3. Scanner911 - Edmonton and world police/ambulance/fire scanners. Entertaining. From my apartment I can see far into the south end, and kick on the scanner to hear the Stars Air Ambulance. It's actually rather depressing.
4. Classics - book app - even if the books that come with it are public domain, I'm about 75% through "20000 Leagues Under the Sea" by Jules Verne just by waiting in waiting areas where normally I'd just be standing.
5. Chuck Norris - game - What can I say? You can put your friends face on all the enemies and run through the game kicking his face in. For 99 cents, it's the best game out there. I took a camera pic of my brother in law, and have been Chuck Norris kicking his face in for 2 months now. Plus you get the random quotes - best game for the value, bar none. They could actually charge 15 bucks for it, so get it while it's at 1.

For those of you interested in the Classics app, it is apparently free for a limited time:

2010Guide is a fantastic guide (and free!) for following the Olympics. It allows you to follow all events that are on that day, and get detailed updates just as you would on www.vancouver2010.com.
It can be a little slow to update, but it's better than paying $1.99 for the CTV Olympic app to see results.

My problem with this one is that it doesn't seem to show all the events.
Turns out I had it set to only show the Whistler events.
Good app now that I solved that little puzzle.

I downloaded Sleep Cycle, but the jury is still out on whether or not it works. The premise seems really good. It is supposed to analyze your sleeping patters, and then wake you up at an opportune time while you are in your lightest sleep, thus waking up more refreshed.

I'd be interested in how well it works. do you have to wear it while you sleep (like on an armband or something)?

No, you're supposed to put it on your bed, under a light blanket, face down. I just lay it on top of my sheets. I suppose it works in that it records my movements, but in five days, it's only woken me up once prior to my alarm going off. And then I was too tired, so I fell back asleep.
It is getting rave reviews right now, but I am not sold yet. It was only a dollar though, what can I expect?

I've been using sleep cycle too. I like it but the problem is it registersu wife's movements as well as my own. She gets up every 3 hours to feed our baby, so it throws everything off. That being said I LOVE the alarm sounds. Very pleasing to wake up to.

I'm going to start trying this sleep cycle tonight. Very interesting concept... but I sleep enough that I usually wake up on my own anyways.

That was my next question. I have a gong alarm clock that gives you a nice gentle wake up. I much, much prefer it to the old fashioned way of being startled awake.
