I watched only a couple seconds of Prince. I just don't get him. Never have, never will.
There was definitely some awkwardness throughout the episode. Awkward silence when someone had clearly not read the cue cards properly or someone was missing their cue.
When that woman left and then came back and stood there awkwardly for a few seconds without saying anything, that was bizarre. I feel like she could maybe have adlibbed something, as is grand tradition at SNL when something goes wrong. Instead, it was just horrible. I normally find that chick funny on her update appearances. I remember her a few weeks back talking about online dating. I thought she was great. Not a great night for her this episode.
This was the first digital short that I chuckled at in a long while. I didn't think it was hilarious, but it was good.
I liked Pete Davidson. When he said that his penis should be the most important penis to his mom is all but one way, I was in hysterics. I think he's great. Doesn't really get used all that much in sketches though. I am wondering if he'll be this season's Brooks, where people seem to think he's funny on Update appearances, but doesn't do much in the sketches.

Prince killed it. That was AWESOME! The new band he has with him is pretty great too. They wail.
The monologue was great, the Taylor Swift skit was great and weekend update was great - especially the new guy.
Woody Harrelson and Kendrick in two weeks should be another good show.

The wife turned it on when Prince started his song(s). I had no intention of watching the episode as I never like Chris Rock when he was a regular.

There was a lot of awkward parts to that, jokes especially from Chris Rock that just flopped, just dead silence. Some of the skits were the same and some had lines that just didn't make sense. I thought it was me because I had forgot to not inhale earlier in the day, but it seems like everyone feels the same.
I've always liked most of Prince's music, and had a lot of repect for his talent. A long time ago I had a boot leg tape of his before he was a megastar and it was a lot of wicked guitar. Also heard that when he was in his teens, he did a record, by himself as in played all of the instruments, did the mixing etc.

Wow, I know personal tastes and all that, but he is just incredible on guitar, and that performance was amazing. His Canadian guitarist is incredible to, to the point where Prince said he lets her contribute to the songs way more than he ever has with anyone else.
Just awesome to watch.

On the Oct 31st B.S. Report podcast, Bill Simmons interviews James Miller. He wrote "Live From New York" which is an amazing behind the scenes account of Saturday Night Live. The book's an entertaining read to say the least.

Really liked Prince, but maybe it's just because I love long songs you can really get into.
Rock was worse than I had hoped, but he is one of my favorite comedians so expectations were high. His monologue was one of the best I've seen though. I always wondered why comedians don't just do a bit of stand up at the top instead of trying to be all cutesy. That's how you do it ladies and gentlemen. And he was even trying to be topical and divisive without being crude.
Previous, I loved the Carrey episode. I thought he had a good mix of old and new. The billionaire bit where he talked about the social experiment of the Dennis' might go down as the best line of the season. Lincoln commercials, well the first two were gold anyway.
Iggy, don't care for her music, but I understand that's where pop is these days. At least she's not pretending to be something she's not like half the folk rock bands that are popular nowadays.

She's a white Australian who lowers her voice and puts on a fake Southern American accent when she raps. Not QUITE authentic! lol

Loved SNL last night! Woody was great.
I particularly enjoyed the Matthew McConaughey bit on Weekend Update. Killam nailed it.

The last skit of the night in the bar was pretty funny. "I just dejaculated".

Definitely one of the best episodes in years. Harrelson was great. Weekend update, the sitcom family, the "crack" skit, the dating game all had me rolling.
Kendrick was unreal, and how about that random Chantal Kreviazuk appearance. Where has she been the last few years? She sounded awesome.

I thought those were the two worst things on an otherwise good SNL.
The pot sketch seemed to take forever to get out a pretty lame punchline.
Leslie Jones (she is the big black chick right?), i just don't get what is funny about her yelling a bunch of nonsense all the time. I noticed it last time I saw her and this time was just as bad. I imagine the over the top yelling is part of the schtick and maybe what makes it funny for others but it just makes the whole thing obnoxious for me especially because she isn't saying anything funny to go with the yelling.

Oh yeah she was amazing, sounded like a touched-up recording.

I can see how Leslie Jones wouldn't be for everyone. I like her because her shtick is a nice change from the other castmates.
Mostly, though, I find the conviction with which she says absurd things pretty funny. To me it's jarring, but in a humorous way. She hasn't really translated to skits from what I can recall so that may be a problem. I bet she's a killer standup.

It took a second to register that was Chantal. Not knowing Kendrick Lamar at all, that was robably the most random thing I've seen in months.

She always does the same character, does it well mind, but still always the same character. THis might be a draw back on a sketch show like SNL.

Well, to be fair, with the exception of Taran Killam and Kate McKinnon, the entire cast is fairly one-note. Some of them do their one-note pretty well (Ady Bryant, Kyle Mooney) but it's not like we're currently being presented with the cast of heyday SCTV.
