Cobolli and Etcheverry are going to a 3rd set which means that it could be another 45 minutes at least before we see Felix take on Bweh in Hamburg.

Welp, Bweh just delivered a breadstick to Felix. Felix wasn't terrible, just Bweh was on fire. Felix needs to mix things up though, he need to get out of these backhand-to-backhand ralleys, Rublev is feasting on him.

Rublev wins 6-1 6-4 - Much better from Felix in set 2, but that backhand broke down at the worst time. Credit to Bweh though, he played well and now has a 7-1 in the H2H with Felix. Most of their matches have been very close, today was not one of those.

Flavio Cobolli takes the Hamburg title defeating Rublev 6-2 6-4. Excellent tennis from the Italian as he claims the biggest title of his career.

Leylah Fernandez got smoked today in opening round of French Open.
I had hoped her game would improve over time. It has not

I missed Leylah's match today, but here are some of the key stats (look closely at the win % on her second serve)
When you're only winning 25% of points on your second serve, it means you have a crappy second serve. I see she didn't have any double faults today, but if you're just rolling the ball into the service box to avoid a double fault, that's not much better.

Just keep rolling with the same coaches, Canadian kids, I’m sure it’s gonna turn around soon if you just stick with it

Or, it is incredibly difficult to be a top 100 player in the world.

It is indeed very difficult. What makes it more difficult is trying to hit that next level with coaching that's already taken you as far as they can. There's a reason the top players cycle through coaches when their game hits the wall as it's not a lot different than team sports where even great teams need a new voice and direction in the locker room. I feel at this point Felix in particular is sabotaging his own career sticking with Fontang who did a good job preparing him to be a pro in his teens but hasn't brought anything new to the table for years now.

I would agree, as good as Uncle Toni was for Nadal, it was clear it wasn't working anymore and he stopped winning majors for a few years. Once he made the switch to Moya, he would win another 8 majors. A fresh voice can do wonders for your game.

Just adding to EE's post above and specifically regarding Leylah, her serve has been an issue for well over a year now. I guess I would like to know what the plan is, do they (her coaches/team) think it's magically somehow going to resolve itself if she sticks with it or is it time to rejig the entire service motion? If changing the service motion means taking a break from tour, that's a much better approach than continuing to keep trotting her out there only to get demolished on court. Already you can see the damage that has been done to her confidence, she doesn't have the same fighting spirit that was the hallmark of her game.

Gabe is hanging in there with Frankie Cerundolo as they are on serve in the opening set.
Edit: Diallo breaks at the absolute best time to take the opening set 7-5.

#4 seed Taylor Fritz is one and done as Daniel Altmaier takes him out in four sets. It has not been a good 2025 for Taylor.

The leaps and bounds that Gabriel Diallo has made in rallying with someone like Francisco Cerundolo who I consider to be a top 10 player on clay is pretty incredible. You can tell that Frankie is surprised how long Gabe manages to stay in some of these rallies. Can Gabe keep it up to get the win is another question, but he looks really good at the moment.

Gabe breaks and is serving for set 2 at 5-3
Edit: A straight-forward hold of serve to consolidate the break and Gabriel is up two sets to love.
