Forget the washrooms, I'm more interested in just below that which look like giant t-shirt cannons. Or at least that's what I choose to believe.

Yeah, no rational person is going to plan on a 3 year rebuild. The plan, I would think, is that they want the nose of the ship turned upward by then. Have a group of young players to start building around, and a team on the rise.
That would be more than sufficient to generate the buzz they'll want for the new arena

So will the community rink so function as a practise facility for the clubs?

With the massive size of the new Lower Bowl, I assume that this will set the TV cameras further away from the ice. It's too bad—as an out-of-town fan, one of the things I LOVE about games at the Saddledome is how close the cameras are to the ice.

Probably moreso for visiting teams.
The Rogers Place Community Rink is apparently a secondary practice ice for the Oilers/Oil Kings (they generally use the main arena).
Practices are usually in the morning, so the ice is available.
The community arena may be used for players rehabbing, or one-on-one instruction with coaches/trainers.

Excited about the arena but pissed at council. They should all be fired.
From my understanding, under the old deal, taxpayers paid half and got money back from operations whereas under the new deal, taxpayers now pay double the amount and get no share of the profits back.

Not true. The old deal there was a 2% ticket tax/facility fee. In the new deal there is a 9.5% ticket tax/facility fee that goes to the city.

May have been mentioned ( 45 pages to scroll though lol) The outdoor Patio, how will it work in the winter which is the majority of the season, enclosed like a Cactus club patio, heaters, something else? Or not discussed yet?

Having the third team here makes a big difference I think. (Plus the Roughnecks) Right now the Wranglers are pretty much out @ WinSport except for games, and I believe the Hitmen have a bunch of practices at 7Chiefs. I can see the community rink bringing all those teams 'home'. It also might mean the Roughnecks have the carpet down in the main arena more, as the hockey teams can practice in the community rink.

Right, but the city traded that for guaranteed money instead of dealing with the variability of ticket demand.

I wouldn’t expect much availability from the community rink. It will be closed on game days and probably mostly booked for practices on other days. It’s also in a spot that is painful for regular folks anyway.

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, certainly the design of the Arena looks a lot more attractive and not tacky compared to the Oilers building. But taxpayers are being absolutely fleeced. Every single person on Council should be voted out, they basically were standing by and watching ownership of the Flames financially rape a whole city

Any word on what's going on in the NE corner? Looks like a separate development permit not included in the drawings, but in the video animation, it looks like a tower of sorts?
