First off even just going for it on 4th and 1 with 3 minutes left in a 9-6 game was probably the wrong call.

But you get the 1st down so that works out okay. Then on 3rd and 4 on the 13 with 2 minutes and 19 seconds left and you throw the ball?! Russell Wilson makes a horrible decision but why are you throwing there at all.

Then on 4th and 1 in OT you go for it again and force a throw into the end zone.

Clueless.

While there was always the risk that Russ wasn't as good or as smart as he thought he was, or diminished in his capacity, as I mentioned many times over the last couple years, and when it was untenable really with Seattle (of which I took some guffaws here for) I didn't expect the fall to be this suddenly, this quick.

Sure you can say it's the coaching decisions too, but Wilson is fully integrated wit that too, which is why he has the rift he did in the last years with Seattle).

He will likely bounce back but it will take a pretty big reset with the coach (this one or the next) to do so.

The last correct result I needed in my 4 pick parlay was broncos over 12.5
Fitting ending. Are you not entertained?

That actually makes sense, even though it is unbelievable for an NFL organization to be that clueless. I can't even believe how bad Hackett and Wilson are.

When does the rest of the team mutiny? Anyone see Hamler's reaction?

The new ownership didn’t hire the GM or HC and the $250 million dollar man won’t get the blame. Hackett is completely swimming. This is the most embarrassingly inept broncos team I can remember and I’ve sat through the McDaniels era, Vance Joseph, Vic Fangio, Trevor Siemien, hell Tommy Maddox wasnt this bad.

If Hackett survives the full season then bully to him but his fate is sealed. Everyone involved with his hiring should have their employment reviewed. Burn it all, salt the earth, and start over next year. Russ can get one more year and if he’s truly washed up you’ll have your own top 10 pick back next year at least.

Plus side sports talk radio should be good tomorrow

Nah, that's accurate. He was wiiide open that I even saw that live on TV.

Russel's problem was being too locked into Sutton, where the Colt's D knew it was going. His two costly forced throws are what cost them the game. He hasn't leaned since the Super Bowl I see.

Wilson gets extra locked in to his favourite receiver on a key play like 4th downs (or Superbowl goal lines ) always has. His second look is to a RB out of the backfield, third back to that favourite reciever to see if he's somehow got open (which is what he did here and threw it to him, well covered).4th, if he has the time, maybe a quick thought then about a run, and then if not yet sacked looks for a safety valve TE.

Rarely do throws go to a secondary WR target. It's the primary WR target, and if not, looks for a RB or TE (or in the old days, he'd run).

So does this confirm there’s been some weird Space Jam switcheroo thing with Geno and Russ?

Hindsight and all that, but the AFC West was gonna be "the toughest division in recent memory" talk certainly was hilarious. The Colts, who look like one of the three worst teams in the league, and would be 0-5 without their opponents imploding, are 2-0 against the AFC West. Certainly hope the Jags can find a way to win that turd of a division, at least they offer the intrigue of a young team we don't know much about. We know the Titans and Colts are garbage.

As for Hackett, the whole reason he's even there was to be Rodgers bait, and with the prospect of giving up a top 10 (or higher) pick he surely has very little rope. Russ falling off a cliff is definitely a huge problem, but his contract means you're stuck with him. Hackett is cheap to fire, relatively speaking. I'd fire him now because you know he'll be fired by the bye anyway, so might as well hope a quick dismissal can get you a spark now.

Hackett was always a glorified QB coach running LaFleur's offense in Green Bay. Having a good relationship with an elite QB does not necessarily make for a good head coach or even offensive play caller. He must be a really good guy in an interview as he never really looked qualified to coach an NFL team.

Pete Carroll must feel pretty vindicated. Geno Smith is playing much better than Wilson and he has a king's ransom of draft picks over the next two seasons to draft a QB and improve the team.

Nice to see that diva Wilson isnt getting a free pass, thats all i hear when they lose is they dont have a good coach, good o line etc.. poor Russell. Denver giving out that extension, brilliant.

Russell can still make a go of it in Denver. They just need to fire that useless OC/ head coach.

They need to turn him into Doug Flutie. They should totally look into a CFL OC for him.
