Not sure if a lot of people know he's from the Six Nations Reserve outside of Toronto, his mother was Cayuga and Mohawk.

The statement released about his death also asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Six Nations to help build a Cultural Centre.

Even though he was up there in age, it's pretty surprising news. I remember seeing pictures of him from a few months ago and it was crazy how good and healthy he looked for an 80 year old, but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean much.

My parents had a copy of The Last Waltz that they "forced" my sister and I to watch when I was younger. Glad they did. RIP Robbie.

Music For The Native Americans and Contact From The Underworld of Redboy are albums of Robertson's that I only came across in the last year or so and are really good. Great music for journeys of the plant variety.

If you haven't seen this documentary I highly recommend it. Every single person I have recommended it to has come back to me with two thumbs up!

Sad news of his passing but he was 81, I suppose.

I keep meaning to watch it, I discovered his stuff a few years ago. It's really good.
