They have given up 11 unearned runs - almost all of them in the last week. They have lost at least 2, probably more, games as a direct result.
With those 2 extra wins, they would be in, or at least fighting for, a playoff spot.
Defense matters.

So out of all the young position players Bichette is the only one really bringing it, and now he "felt a tweak in his knee"?
I really hate following sports sometimes.

I think I read it occurred in practice. Probably not caught on camera.

So the jays drop game 1 (leftover from yesterday) by a single run, after giving up yet another unearned run from dropping a ball

Sigh. This team has to figure out a way to stop making silly errors. Only a 60 game season, so not much time to waste figuring things out. So sort it out quick, or sayonara playoffs.

Yeah. Playoffs are a pipe dream now. 4 losses in the last 8 games because of unexplainable errors. Talk about a let down. An opportunity to sweep both games today but lose them both.

####. This really pisses me off. They should be 9-9 and sweep the Ray's for the first time in a lifetime. Dumb errors really cost them and I don't know how they fix that. Has to be between the ears.

Ah, thanks Jays for completing my Sunday sports watching misery with another despicable self inflicted loss.

That's AT LEAST 4 games given away
They should be ahead of Tampa in the standings right now, firmly in a playoff spot. And possibly battling the Yankees for the division lead.
Instead, they're staring at a wasted season of 'young guys still learning how to win in the big leagues'. No, they are going full Oilers at this point.

Reports are saying Bichette may be out until mid September. Talk about a terrible day.

I saw this:

So, as ####ty as things feel right now, this team has been right there in almost every game. There is no way they should be 7-11 right now.
Questionable bullpen usage and untimely errors. Both things that can be fixed. It's not a lack of talent, so that's encouraging at least.

If so, he won't play his 100th game until next season. That is not good for his development.

Cobb has thrown 12 pitches over the first two innings. 12 pitches to get 6 outs. Rowdy also didn't know how many outs the team had and headed back to the dugout with only 2 outs.

Nice to hear that Vladdy admits he came back from the COVID break out of shape.
Whether he will change that in the future is a complete guess.
