Just because BT knows Peters doesn't mean he should hire him. There have been a lot of failures in his tenure of bringing in people they know. Maybe "knowing" them isn't really a smart reason to hire them. I think we need to shake things up. Complacency hasn't worked so far.

Thats a good question. He's a tactician like Gulutzan, but a little more surly. On the surface would be a lateral move but maybe help give them an identity? The Hurricanes were regarded as a decent team that couldn't get a save (a year ago he said as much lol). Coached alongside Babcock. He's a media favorite thats for sure.
Right now he checks the "isn't Gulutzan" box which might be enough for a lot of people.
Not my first pick. Not my 2nd either.
I don't understand why Treliving would make another high risk hire like this. Obviously we don't have a lot of insight into Calgary as a destination for senior coaches, but I don't understand why you would risk your career on another "never won anything" coach.

I agree, but it isn’t uncommon in the hockey world. From minor hockey up to pros lots of guys will bring up people they have worked with before. You advance, and then you bring along your support staff when there is an opportunity.
“That distracts from the process,” Gulutzan said. “I came in here this morning, getting prepared for each of the meetings I have. You owe that to your players before they leave, because you’re sending them home with a game-plan. Then tomorrow, I’ll sit down with Tre (general manager Brad Treliving) and go through the differences in the year.
“Those are the things that I’m focused on. I’m not too worried about where I stand. I’ve never been too worried about where I stand.”

Watch the Stars swoop in to hire AV, while we bumble around with the process.
I have a feeling we're going to lose out on the big catch coaches this summer and either stick with GG or go with another off the map pick. This team loves to do its do diligence and figuring out the process while other teams makes big moves.
Let's hope the impediment for past moves was King and that Treliving's new contract allows for him to make these calls without making, well, other calls.
Worth pointing out that the available coach(es) have a say in where they go too. Its always possible a guy like AV would prefer a team like Dallas. This isn't 100% on Treliving. Just a reminder before we call for heads.
