The finale wasn't "crappy" in the context of finales. And the path the show had been on.

Maybe instead of crappy it was just a victim of its own hype.

I guess I see what you mean, the show in general seemed to take a hit as the buzz reached epic proportions. That being said it was probably one of my 2nd favorite finales after the TNG 'All Good Things...'

I know the Sopranos finale was controversial. I haven't checked to see if the ER finale was loved or unloved.
I just think it must be very difficult for a creator to end something as beloved as Battlestar, Sopranos, etc, with the same vision held by the besotted hordes.
Because there are a LOT of besotted hordes with a lot of different ideas.

Exactly. Viewers get so invested in the shows they feel they have ownership of them. When really they aren't in the writers room.

Hence the failure of Snakes on a Plane.

A review of Caprica below . . . . basically, the author feels if you've never seen Battlestar, then Caprica would probably be boring but if you are a fan of Battlestar, you'll probably like it a lot as the backstory gets filled in.

I'll probably watch Caprica, or give it a try anyways. But to me the whole 'birth of Cylons' angle is over played with the cyclical nature of Humanity and Cylons. But that is the just press. I still think it is odd that SciFi or I mean SyFy released the unaired pilot a year before it airs on TV. Cashgrab anyone?

I can't read the thread to see if this has been mentioned yet (because I am just watching season 1 now), but Season 4.5 and a Complete Series set is being released on Blu-ray in July 2009.
I will probably now wait until I have the whole series on beautiful Blu-ray before I watch anymore of it!

I don't know, I watched Caprica last night after I watched the Wrestler and I'm not sure about how I feel about it.
Compared to BSG the pace is relatively pedestrian, and its too much 90210ish for me.
The huge amount of nudity was a plus.
It certainly does explain a lot of things like the Cylon concept of one god, and everything that you learned about Joseph Adama in BSG was pretty much a lie.
Eric Stoltz is a very good actor though.

I broke down and bought Caprica last night. Haven't watched it yet though. I'll post a brief review when I get around to it.

Spoiler question in white
Eric Stoltz character is named Daniel Graystone. He's the man who spearheads the centurian or Cylon program and creates a second Cylon and downloads his dead daughters avatar into. His dead daughter was a member of the one god movement which means that the Cylon, which is copied believes in one god.
We also know that one of the final Cylons was named Daniel and he was boxed by Cavil after he sent all the other Cylons to the colonies. Is it possible that this Daniel is the missin Cylon pre boxed?

Okay, so I watched the opening sequence briefly last night with the girlfriend. She seemed interested, and I couldn't get her to sit down for BSG. We'll see what happens when we watch it.

The scene at the pyramid arena was obviously shot at GM Place.
