All this new system means is more money. The argument is still going to be there, just down the rankings a few numbers. People will still complain.

Indeed, until there is a defined criteria for making any post-season system, there is always going to be bitching and complaining. Difference now is we settle things on the field more than by what pollsters say. Get to a defined system and then controversy will be over. Until then, BCS the new playoff, won't matter. Always will be controversy.
But you're right, its better to just put the two best teams in the final. Why have them play it out on the field? That's a terrible idea and would probably be boring and predictable

Well, when the NCAA successfully runs a 64 team basketball tournament when basketball players can weigh upwards of 300 pounds and tackle each other at 15-18 mph, we can compare.

Well pretty easy to put Stanford out of the top 4 since they had 2 losses. Now maybe Baylor as the 4th over Michigan St. could be an argument, but I doubt it would have went that way.

I don't think anyone minds a little controversy. Controversy sells. A 4 game playoff is better because it allows 2 more out of conference games to better determine who the top 2 are. There are so few meaningful out of conference games, that the ranking really are just guesses. I think it is great that teams that are in a weaker conference, or happen to play a weak schedule that year may now get a chance to either show they belong or prove that they shouldn't really be there. We would have still likely had the same two teams and the same great game in the finals even with a playoff this year, so where is the downside?

Louisville's hiring of Bobby Petrino for his second stint as its football coach is imminent, multiple sources told Yahoo Sports.
Athletic director Tom Jurich is expected to meet with Petrino's agent, David Dunn, Wednesday night to finalize contract details. The school plans to introduce Petrino Thursday. The Louisville Athletic Association's personnel committee has called a 10 a.m. ET meeting Thursday to discuss a personnel matter. The committee is expected to approve a contract for Petrino, and he will be formally introduced thereafter.

And another lol. Tennessee-Alabama would instantly become a must-see game.
Quote:
Former Southern California head coach Lane Kiffin is interviewing for the Alabama offensive coordinator job as early as Thursday, according to a source.
Kiffin will visit Tuscaloosa for the interview but won't be alone in the running for the job. A long list of NFL suitors should be involved for a coveted job to replace Doug Nussmeier, who is now Michigan's offensive coordinator.
The 38-year-old Kiffin, who went a combined 35-21 as coach of Tennessee and USC, visited Alabama during bowl prep as a consultant/observer.
Kiffin runs a pro-style offense, which fits with Saban's style of ball control and a physical running game. But Saban has said recently that he's open to upping the tempo to adapt to attack defenses.

The thing that is scary about kiffen is that he is a big time recruiter

From what I've heard, Ed Orgeron was the big time recruiter while Kiffen was with the Vols/SC.

Coach O is a hell of a recruiter too. But what this really makes me think that things aren't as peachy in Tuscaloosa as we think.
No way you oc takes the same job at another school when the school you're leaving won 2 of the last three titles.
Another thing coming out of the grapevine is that apparently a few underclassmen told recruits on a trip in early December that they shouldn't go to Bama and all the thing they're promised wont come true.
Lots if complaints about playing time

I think Nussmeier left before he had to oversee the stinker that is going to be Alabama's offense next season.

That or maybe it was about the money. Rumour has it he'll be one to the top 5 highest paid co-ordinators in the NCAA.

Yep, this is most likely what it was about. OC's make lateral moves all the time. One of the rumors for the Texas OC is Tom Herman of Ohio State. He would be getting more money plus a chance to prove his offense is his and not Meyer's so he would have a better chance at a head coaching job. Not saying he is going to take it, but those are 2 good reasons to make a lateral move.
