Going in as a tight end, released as a wide receiver.

I don't believe there was ever a belief that Lewis actually stabbed anyone, he was charged on the basis that his group attacked and killed the 2 men and he was active enough in the group to have that killing applied to him. Here the theory seems to be that Hernandez basically executed the guy, not that a bar fight he was in close proximity to turned into a murder. This is a lot different than the Lewis situation.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they have more evidence than a few texts

That's got to be the case. Someone inside the rental Altima flipped likely flipped to save their own skin. Or perhaps the police recover some useable data from the intentionally damaged harddrive or cell phone.

There's also surveillance video of Hernandez with a gun in his hand. I imagine they've also tied the shell casings from the scene to those in the car, and possibly back to the gun.

And.....it gets worse

Quote:
FOX 25 has learned exclusively that investigators are looking into Aaron Hernandez as a possible suspect in a double murder that happened on July 16, 2012 in downtown Boston.

According to the Boston Police blog from that date, officers responded to the intersection of Shawmut Avenue and Herald Street just after 2 a.m. When they arrived, they found three people had been shot, two fatally, as they sat in a car at a traffic light.

The men were identified as Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu. The FOX 25 source said the men, who worked at a cleaning company in Dorchester, had just left a bar in the area.

Furtado and Abreu were sitting in the front seat of the vehicle when witnesses said the occupants of a gray or silver SUV with Rhode Island plates opened fire on it. The surviving victim was in the back seat. Investigators believed two others in the car fled the scene.

They sure seem to be trying to link Hernandez to every possible crime they can find. Do they know his whereabouts the days Kennedy or King Jr. were assassinated? He'd be my first suspect in those cases as well.

The officials said investigators now believe that Odin Lloyd, the man Hernandez is charged with killing in a North Attleboro industrial park June 17, may have had information about Hernandez’s role in the double slaying.

“The motive might have been that the victim knew [Hernandez] might have been involved,” one of the officials said.

Pure speculation of course but this ties in with AH saying something like you don't know who can trust on the night Odin was murdered. AH makes Michael Vikes' crime look child's play in comparision.

^^If true that obviously ties everything together nicely. Still what a bizarre story that figures to only get more bizarre going forward. Hernandez just had to keep it real rather than remembering he's worth $40 million.

This story keeps getting weirder.

Quite possibly the dumbest criminal ever.

I don't know about you, but I'm excited to hear new ESPN analyst Ray Lewis discuss this issue!

I wonder how many will trade for Tebow jerseys...

Quote:
The New England Patriots ProShop will offer a free jersey exchange of any #81 Hernandez jersey purchased at the Patriots ProShop or online at PatriotsProShop.com for a new Patriots jersey of comparable value. The free jersey exchange will be available exclusively at the Patriots ProShop the weekend of Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7.

“We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don’t want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore,” said New England Patriots spokesperson Stacey James. “We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots ProShop for another player’s jersey will be well received by parents.”

This opportunity for a free exchange of jerseys is limited to the weekend of July 6-7 and is available only at the Patriots ProShop located at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The hours of operation are from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 and from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7. The exchange is for jerseys available in the Patriots ProShop only and is limited to one per person
