The only reason I still have cable is for the NFL and NHL. I also like watching the news from time to time. Other then that I have no need at all...however I will continue paying my $100 just for the things mentioned above.

I heard from a colleague at Telus that *loop bonding* will be rolled out in Calgary shortly... Can anyone from Telus confirm? How do I know if I'm eligible for this ?

I've had Optik since day 1 - with 2 x HD boxes (1 PVR), but am still upset that I can only watch/record 1 HD program at a time...
I'm generally happy but considering a switch when my contract is up in a few months.

does anyone know how to permanently turn off the previous channel guide? 10 seconds is too long and hitting the "previous" button to get it to close usually leaves it open but goes back to the previous channel

I have nothing to add other than I had to read your name 10 times over, as I was certain it read " smoothpoops". I was strangely impressed with such a witty nickname and slightly let down when I found I can't read.

Hit the previous button twice and the menu disappears

I think you need to upgrade your equipment. I can record at least two HD programs and watch something else at the same time

Type "recent", (using your remote num pad), while in the system info screen.

It all has to do with the bandwidth in the area. I can record 2 and watch 1.
I have a friend who is the same boat can only watch 1 and record 1

Watched "Dredd" in HD last night through their streaming movie service. Was really impressed with the quality of the feed and no issues with lag or streaming at all.

Does the Telus PVR support Video and Audio out via HDMI cable or just video? Example can I plug an HDMI cable from the Telus PVR to my TV and the audio will work?
Thank you.

I think all you need is the hdmi.
I am 90% sure this is how I had mine set up before I hooked it up to a different audio source.

This is how mine is set up. There are some who are having handshaking issues with hdmi - it seems to affect Sharp Aquos TVs more than others. In such instances, Telus recommends using component cables.

Does anyone else experience this issue:
When I turn on the TV and PVR at the same time I don't get any input. If I unplug the HDMI from the table and then plug it back in I get the video and sound again.
If I turn on the TV and then turn on the pvr after it works fine.
It's not that big of an issue, just annoying that I can't use the power button to turn on everything at once.
