Not if Texas finally gets their head out of their ass and beats Seattle which they should have on Thursday.

Vlad is costing himself hundreds of millions. Anyone with eyes can see that he’s not a guy that you want as a core member of a winning team. He’s a solid supplemental piece. He has never proven that he can do big things at important moments.

All this drama for an opportunity to lose another 2 to the Rays next week.

No idea why Hicks was pitching around Tapia like he was Babe Ruth. That at bat and the fact he came across to score really killed the Jays.

Tapia swings away at the best of times and can't catch up to a 100mph fastball but Hicks wasnt close with the balls.

The intentional walk was setup for being able to pitch to a guy like that.

Flashbacks to 2 years ago when the Jays missed out due to tiebreakers on game 162.

Or….. why isn’t Mayze brought in to face Tapia - a lefty

He wasn’t even warming up . So unless his arm is having an issue it is inexcusable

The Rays have more motivation to change a starting pitcher in the playoffs than the Jays have to make the playoffs. 5 hits in this game. Seriously.

I agree but I'm split daily in my own thinking. He's shown incredible potential in the past. For more than one season, even when pitchers did adjust to him. He's not worth the big bucks but at this moment if I were the Jays I'd try and lock him to a 6 year deal worth ~$20M. His average isn't particularly bad, so he does have a bit of a eye still left over. If you can get him to somehow sign for cheap by hedging your bets, you may have a guy who outplays his contract. Little chance he does worse as time goes on.

I'll pose this again. As it stands right now, everyone in the organization should be looked at thoroughly for underperformance. No matter how they do going here on out, each and every person should be looked at for lack of consistency. This season has been an unnecessary rollercoaster.

I think that’s about right for Guerrero. $20 million per season is what you pay now for a supplemental player.

Hey, they Jays crapped the bed and choked. I’m just pushing back against the narrative that the Rays had nothing going in this game. They are absolutely thinking ahead and used their high end relievers to achieve that. Tomorrow may be different, they don’t care much if they face the jays especially if they take Gausman out of that series.

Rays aren’t pitching any regulars tomorrow

So we’ll probably get shutout

I was agreeing with you. The Rays had more motivation than the Jays when our season is on the line and they are trying to dictate the order of the rotation that they could face.

Yeah....as down a year as Vlad has had he still:

Leads the club in HR, RBI, BB, OBP for guys that start every day.

2nd in hits and total bases.

Not what anyone wanted him to be this year, but still a very good player.

He has a 2.0 WAR

A WAR is worth ~8million.

So he was worth approx 16 million this year .

Texas should be in full on panic mode tonight. I don’t know if that’s good or bad or if it even matters against Castillo

Fair. Given his past though, he's worth a bit more. I'd even say given his upside he's probably worth going $22-23M. But playing into game theory, I assume he takes that in a short term contract to show he's worth more. His low side if it doesn't work out is probably $16M.

The Blue Jays offence is in the middle of league. Leading a mediocre offence in all of its category's really doesn't make you a very good player. Not saying he's terrible but leading a mediocre offence in category's hopefully doesn't result in a major payday.
