What a dirty piece of s***. Should get at least 2 games for that crap, but he's the league's golden boy, so who knows. They'll probably just give him a fine.

Morgan Rielly got 5 for similar late game cross check last year.

Is there a bigger P.O.S in the league right now than McAspergers…

Loved what Garland was doing there. Even if he takes a penalty, so what? You're totally removing their primary weapon. And you know none of the Oiler's players are smart enough to purposely give you the puck to blow it down. Good stuff.

It was irritating that the dumbass color guy kept saying Garland would get the initial interference call after McDavid molested him for about 10 seconds and bertuzzied him right before that. Though knowing this league it probably would have turned out with Garland getting it, because McDipsh**.

Look, its empty-net, end of the game, clock winding down...what Garland did was smart. Tie him up.
Oh...was it epic ####housery? Absolutely! And...he did a decent job of selling it as 'oh we're just tangled up' that probably, maybe, might have warranted a couple minutes, but theres only seconds on the clock.
Until McSerenity over there absolutely lumberjacks him in the face!
I put up with a lot of BS in hockey and for the most part I've made piece with that, but there are some things I simply will not abide, and the biggest one is: Weapons.
Whether thats the use of skates (looking at you Kassian) or, especially, sticks.
If you deliberately hit someone with your stick? Tie 'em up at centre ice and give 'em the Johnny Rico treatment.

Will be interesting to see how the league handles essentially the same play on two totally different players.

I totally agree. I think they should hand out Intent to Injure penalties way more often than they do. Things like a two-handed slash, literally anywhere on the body, is an intent to injure. A cross-check to the head is only an intent to injure. Im glad they both got Match Penalties, that was the right call.
Throw in the ol' Gross Misconduct while you're at it. Is that still in the book?
I also kinda hope they give Myers more games than McDavid just to witness the meltdown.

The punch in the back of the head while mcdavid was mounting garland on the ice should warrant a suspension in itself.

Garland played that perfectly. That’s how you get Mcdavid off his game.

Fined $5K. Meanwhile Meyers gets 3 games for cross checking Bouchard.

They better use the time left in the game as a factor like they did with Andersson vs Columbus last year.
