- Lundqvist's future is up in the air, but some executives think he will keep playing if there is a market for him
- External belief that if you like Rask now is the time to take a run at him
- Devils willing to make moves, but won't be a dumping ground for bad contracts. They want to win and create a positive environment.
-CBJ is a team to watch for a goalie trade.
-Varlamov might be available as well.

Devils want to win and create a positive environment... give us that top 10 pick!
I could see Shattenkirk being a target for us. Wonder how much he costs.

No surprise at all. The only indication either of these players are being shopped has come from media and fan speculation. I think the real insiders know who is being shopped and I don't think either of these guys are. Will Tre listen on them? I think he will listen on anyone but I don't believe he is shopping either player.

Miss this, by a resident Oiler fan:
Really? I thought they’d get a first for him. Didn’t think we’d be in on him because of that.
Upgraded our top 6
Upgraded our bottom 6
Gained a Depth dman who can help the PP.
All while RIGHT up against the cap.
Plus
We still have our 1st, Bouchard, and Broberg. Probably keeping our 3rd too.
I have only one complaint, and that’s Gagner being gone. He loved being an Oiler.
However I love the upgrades.

Just like all playoff performances, they are a small sample size and not usually reflective of the overall effectiveness of a player. I fully expect that Giordano and Bennett will regress to the mean of their career performances.

I think the main buzz about Monahan and Gaudreau being on the move came from Eric Francis, who has never really been a fan of Monahan and Gaudreau

I'm wondering if NJ offers up 18 and 20 for Hanifin...
We could pull a Boston and have a 3 pick run.
I'm interesting in Rask. But Varlamov being available is good too. Goalie market is so saturated the trading prices will be low. If a team needs to shed one. CoughMurraycoughcough.

You know, except all of the team/ league insiders who have mentioned Gaudreau is a likely trade candidate.

I like Varly and Rask too but they're older and subject to the same complaints most people here have for Kuemper and Markstrom.
If it drives down the Murray price to dirt levels that would be an excellent outcome for the flames.

One more AA jab:
The Oilers paid 2 seconds for AA, a forward who had 24 points and was coming off a career high 54 point season. Their fans cheered the move.
The Flames paid a 3rd for Gustaffson, a defenceman who had 26 points and was coming off a career high 60 point season. CP was from "meh" to "that's too much".
AA played 9 games not counting play-in and got 2 points (none in play in anyway).
Gus played only 7 games and got 3 points. (3 in the play in as well).

Source? Friedman said they would listen on Gaudreau but they were not shopping him. Why is he not on the trade boards then if you think there are so many insiders? Who are all these league insiders? Give me a list.

Eric Francis said it was time for them to go and maybe some insiders thought he was speaking on behalf of the Flames

Francis, Haynes, Ryan Leslie, Lavoie. I think there have been more. Deride francis all you want, I dislike him too, but the others have credibility.

Well that stats alone prove you wrong.
31st in 5 on 5 CF%
44th in shot splits
32nd in xGF%
57th in HDCF%
That's out of 180 defensemen that played 600+ minutes
He's was a weak 1, strong 2 for his regular season, and at $6.75M that's just a smidge over the 32nd ranked defenseman in cap hit.
Giordano wasn't a Norris guy for sure, and he had a bad playoffs, but the stats show he's still a quality top pairing dman.

No they don't. Lavoie only reports out of Quebec and has a history of not being accurate. Leslie agrees with everything Francis says and is not an insider. Why didn't Friedman say they were being shopped? McKenzie? Dreger? Any legit insider? Gaudreau is a huge name, surely if he was being shopped he would be on the trade board. Why is he not there?

He absolutely did not play like a #7
Gio played 22:42 per night, 3:23 of that on the PK. He was on the ice for 3 PP goals against and 7 ES goals against. The same amount of ES goals against as Brodie, Forbort, Andersson, and 1 more than Hanifin. His 3 PPGA was better than Brodie and Forbort and 1 more than Andersson. As I am not one of those live the Analytics, die by the Analytics folks, I might be reading his SAT Percentages (on NHL.com) wrong, but it looks to me he was better than Brodie in almost all of those stats. His physical play wasn't all that great, but he also lead the team in shots blocked by 33% which is a sign he got in the shooting lanes.
Literally nothing about them says he was near #7

Mackenzie is "retired" so doing very little inside reporting now. Dreger is the furthest thing from an insider on the flames is hilarious.
Friedman was non-committal about the shop, I think intentionally so.
Leslie has more internal links to this team than everyone you listed.

Leslie agreed with Francis that Gaudreau wanted to move on from here when he hit his contract year. Johnny Gaudreau said he loves Calgary and could see him playing his whole career there. So you are telling me that Eric Francis knows more about what Johnny Gaudreau is thinking than Johnny Gaudreau? Lol.

To be perfectly clear. Leslie said point blank Gaudreau will not sign again in CGY. Emphatically. Nothing about being traded.
I too believe Gaudreau is being shopped. But let's not mix things up.
Dissentowner is just plugging the ears and creaming la la la la la, because he doesn't want to hear it. No big deal. We have done it it for a Flames player before. I went off about Hudler.

I think the Flames are definitely considering trading Gaudreau as part of the need to shake up the team and move forward. They are certainly not desperate to trade him however and there is no reason they should get bent over in a deal.
