`Two in each league.

They play one game against each other to see who moves on to the DS

Maybe the Red Sox will lose 6 in a row and the Jays will win 6 in a row. Maybe!

Good performance from the Jays today.

Houston beats Seattle, Jays now 4 games clear of Seattle with 5 games left.

Jays magic number to clinch at least a Wild card:

Detroit - 3
Seattle - 2
Houston - 1

I agree when he is in non save situations. I actually didn't like Gibby going to him last night because it seems like in Non save he steps off the gas a little.

But to say always is a stretch. The vast majority of the time he is pretty dominant.

Starting to think about who I'd rather draw in the wildcard game. Typically don't like these pick your poison discussions but honestly I would prefer Baltimore for one big reason. They don't have a Justin Verlander. And the way Detroit's rotation is lining up, it could very feasibly be Verlander that we would face. And that's a scary thought for a 1 game winner take all.

Baltimore is the ideal opponent in my mind as well. I actually think Baltimore is the ideal opponent of all the teams that are left. Houston and Seattle all present the same problem Detroit does with Verlander.

I'll be cheering for the Baltimore the minute this Toronto series is over (and I hate Baltimore).

Stoeten answers some of the big questions leading in to the final stretch and WC game:

And using Osuna in non-save situations uses him so he was unavailable in situations like the last game against the Yankees. Gibby has no idea how to manage his bullpen. It would be much better to bring someone else in a non save situation and if it looks like it is getting out of control, bring Osuna in then.

I think for the most part Gibby actually does a really good job with the Pen and its one of his strenghts. Sure there are going to be times you question his decision but pretty rarely is it a "WTF are you doing" decision. No manager is going to be perfect but I do feel like he bats well above avg in that situation.

But I 100% agree that using Osuna last night wasn't necessary and Gibby can over use his closer. Did it alot with BJ Ryan too back in the day.

Did Feldman fall off the face of the Earth or something? I mean they traded for him, and don't seem to ever use him. To me that's a bit of a curious one.

Last year they really did seem to have a defined A group, and a B group. This year they managed to get a decent A group in Biagini, Benoit, Grilli, and Osuna, but haven't found a secondary group to trust. Everytime Cecil looks like he might figure it out...he has another set back. Grilli...just shouldn't pitch against the Yankees.

Did you see the article a few pages back that rated managers on their bullpen management?

I don't put a lot of stock in those things, but he was rated dead last - hard to believe that there is ZERO validity in it.

Liriano making a strong case to take Stroman's 4th spot in the possible ALDS rotation.
