It's definitely better.
And if Andersson gets off to a good start, and is having a better season, the numbers will rise, and his willingness to extend will return. It sounds like he turned down deals not because of location, but because of numbers - better numbers and everything is fine.

Is this the deal you were talking about last week that was in the approval phase?

I think both player and GM believe he can raise his value starting in Calgary. This is looking more like it either happens when a contender gets an injury to their blueline and are willing to meet Conny's price or at the trade deadline.

|
With the rules that prevent a trade including conditions on a player re-signing, I think Conroy would just bake that value into the cost and not lower his cost to a pure rental value. Conroy is probably saying to the other GMs "Here is the cost, meet it and you have the chance to extend Andersson but that is on you to figure out, otherwise pay me more and I'll gift wrap it for you".
Whichever team that acquires Andersson has a pretty good chance of extending him because they will be able to offer him an 8 year extension. But if they lowball him then he'll just move to plan B and get a UFA deal that walks him to 35 and hope that he can land another contract that closes the gap on his career earnings.

Who was even salty about a Wolf signing???
That's just pure good news. It would be even better if we also moved Rasmus, but I can't see/ haven't seen a single negative post about re-signing wolf long term.

Apparently the sticking point in negotiations between the Devils and Luke, is that Luke wants a 5 year deal that takes him to UFA at the same time that Jack also becomes UFA. Devils want a 3-year term.

It definitely seems to allow a bubble team that might have prospects and could potentially use Rasmus longterm (like Detroit) the opportunity to do what Carolina did with Rantanen. Decide they will give up Kasper for Rasmus, try to sign him for 74 days and then if they cannot trade Rasmus as a 1.13 cap hit and recoup what they gave up.
I think that pressure point is more for teams that are not top 2-3 in the conference (in terms of it being a pressure point to allow a team to make a subsequent trade). Hard to see a team that is top 2-3 doing that (although I guess Carolina did last year so who knows).

Perhaps interesting to note that contracts/ deals are confirmed to require an approval stage.
Is it ownership approval?

The question was asked in reference to Sec214's Wolf GIF last week, and he had mentioned after that the deal was awaiting approval and likely wouldn't be finalized until this week. At least that's how i remember the sequence of events but I could be misreading as well.

Does anyone have a feel for what the current contract ask is for Rasmus? The one that’s too rich for the Flames or whatever?

IIRC it was max term and over 8 million per.
And the Flames were I believe at 5 years and low 7s .....I THINK.
That being said, Backs has said he's being traded and I believe that more than anything else that's been said.
