Its funny, I'm still playing the game and still enjoying it now that I've figured out a bunch of the tricks.
I have one final mission for my sith Jug, but I had the floor wiped with my crushed face so I'm doing a lot of daily content so that I can upgrade my armor.
I have two other alts a Sith Inquisitor and a smuggler that I'll eventually return to.
While this still isn't quite as deep as WOW in terms of true MMO features, I like the ability to be able to run in story line mode and occassionally jump in a WarZone or raid.
For the amount of money I pay for the game, its a small chunk of my etertainment dollar that I don't mid spending.
Now if you'll excuse me, me and my two wives are gonna go kick the family TaunTaun around in the cargo bay of my ship (I'm evil you know)

I dunno, Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 were fantastic. I still play those games once or twice a year. Number two had it's problems, thanks to a rushed timeline set by LucasArts, but it's still a good game.

The new expansion is very good and very challenging and adds some good content. The only drawback is its a faction storyline not a class story line.
The game has taken really big steps forward from when it started, some of the new flash points and random events are quite good.
they really need to get new designers though, the new armor is ugly.
But I'm still enjoying the game, I've run 4 toons up to level 50, and the story lines keep drawing me back in to build another toon.

I still haven't tried the game. But I see that they have a new free to play portion of the game. Is it worth checking out now, or am I just way too late to the party.

The free to play game is a good way to get into it but its a little limiting in terms of what's available to you and things like XP growth being slower. You can still play through all the story lines, but I believe some of the true MMO benefits aren't there at the start such as War Zones, Flash Points and operations. There are some other caps as well.
However they did institute a reward program called Cartel coins which would allow you to buy some of those items.
I would try the free to play and if you like it become a subscriber its only like $15.00 per month.
WoW is a much more mature game, but SW:TOR is well on its way

the group finder has been improved and works fairly well.
They also added ranked warzones based on levels, there are still a couple of hilarious issues with it, but its nice to have.
found out on the below 50 levels you can win warzones naked because of how it equalizes ratings.
While the servers aren't super populated they've been fairly busy lately.
Especially with the new content.

The Group Finder didn't even exist last time I played so anything would be an improvement for me.
Strongly considering giving it a go.

Depending on the flashpoint or operation that you want to do, sometimes it takes a while to put together groups. But its a nice feature if you don't have a guild.

Re-installed the game on my PC. I have a L50 Vanguard but will use the second slot to level a Sith Jugg.
The Harbinger:
Stahlback - L50 Vanguard
Hesse - L11 Juggernaut
Toons are on The Harbinger server so i'll start a new toon on Bastion and maybe i'll find some CP'rs there.
The Bastion:
Dreyth - Sith Juggernaut

The Sith Jugg is probably the strongest story of all of them and one of the most fun characters to fight with.

That's what I was playing when I stopped. Immortal spec Juggernaut.
Picture of my guy from page 42:
I don't know how PVP has changed but at the time I was able to consistently get 9-11 medals or whatever per pvp match.
If I do install it again and get the expansion (possible I do that tonight) I'd start a new character, probably a Bounty Hunter Powertech.
