I think you should just pencil in LSU's WR Brandon Lafell as your next #1 pick. Someone in KC defnitely has a woody for former Tigers.

I actually have mostly hockey "insiders" on my list, along with a couple football insiders. Too tough to get hockey news down here, let alone Flames info.

Oh right I knew that actually SF, I'm sick and have been OTL all week. I dunno, right now I'd take KC over Cleveland or St. Loo. Haha I think the Tigers may be the best football team in Missouri.

Do you got Adam Schefter? He's beauty but I've actually been on the verge of deleting him a couple times just because he tweets so damn much. Ugh I can't believe I just used that word...
NFL Rumour Central's good stuff too.

I do have Schefter, and I agree about his frequency. @jeffduncantp is a good one for local Saints news, but he tweets throughout games so make sure to turn him off at gametime.
@downgoesbrown is still my favorite.
I'd better stop talking about Twitter, pink shoes, and homophobia before someone starts to wonder about me...

Twitter during the game is awesome. Unless! Unless, you pause the game and then check twitter. Then it ruins the surprise. I did that on week one. Now I can't check Twitter unless I'm live which is pretty rare for me with a two year old running around.

So there are rumours flying around that the Vikings are asking taxpayes to pony up $700 million for a new stadium. Apparently their lease at the Metrodome is up after the 2011 season, and Wilf apparently has eyes on the new stadium being built in L.A.

The Vikings have been trying to build a new stadium ever since Ziggy Wilf bought the team. The idea keeps getting rejected at every level, and I think he's getting frustrated with the whole thing.
I can't say I disagree with his thinking, why should I keep a team in a market that doesn't care that their team plays in a Grade A dump.

I didn't know that you were/are a Chiefs fan. I guess there are a few of us around, even if we are a little ashamed to admit it lately! The bolded name is exactly why I am Chiefs fan. Watching the Nigerian Nightmare was awesome before Priest Holmes, Montana or Larry Johnson!

Can they just reno the Metrodome? I believe the Twins are getting a new baseball stadium built, that will allow the Vikings to tailor the Dome to their wants and needs.
I just recall how many years the Twins fought to get a new stadium, and that will be used for 81 home games a year. A football stadium with approx 10 games a year has got to be a tough sell.

Here's the article from today. Some very telling quotes. I don't think Vikings are playing games anymore.

"If the answer is no," Vikings vice president for public affairs and stadium development Lester Bagley said, "then why would you own a team in this market?"
The Vikings' big push begins today, as the team and sports facilities commission make an economic impact presentation to the House Commerce Committee led by Rep. Joe Atkins, DFL-Inver Grove Heights.
"When we get to 2010, we have 20 games left at the Metrodome, and the clock is ticking," Bagley said. "We didn't have a choice to wait until they invited us over. We've respectfully and diplomatically tried to move forward, but we can't solve the problem alone."

As far as I can tell, the Metrodome has been renovated many times, and that's what has made tolerable for the team to be there.
But as of now, they want a commitment from the city and community to keep the team there long term. And that's in the form of a new stadium.
All of this started when Wilf bought the team, he wanted to make this whole gigantic plaza and all. That was so long ago, I barely remember it. I will scour the internet to find an article about it.
And since they intially brought up the idea, they've been shot down time and time again. I'm glad that they are ready to play hardball, becuase even though it's only 8-10 games a year, the amount of revenue they produce is enormous.

But I've never seen any independent analysis that says any professional sports venue ever earns back what is spent to build it in the first place (when public money is used). I love seeing teams play in modern stadiums, but I can definitely see the municipality's point of view.

Don't get me wrong, I see both sides of the argument. And I can't be bothered to follow it in depth, because while it affects my favorite NFL team. I don't live in Minnesota and the decisions made don't really affect me personally. So I don't follow the whole circus that has been going on all that closely.
But I can see Mr. Wilf moving the team if an agreement for a new stadium isn't reached at some point soon.

I've been following the 49ers quest for a modern venue for years now. The wrangling for public money goes on and on (and on, and on).

So, as I understand it, these are the teams at risk to move over the next ten years:
Buffalo
Jacksonville
Minnesota
San Francisco (or has this been resolved?)
Oakland
St. Louis
Am I missing any? That seems like a lot. Obviously L.A. will get one of those teams. San Antonio is a prime candidate for another. If more than two teams move, I think Toronto could potentially get one. I've never been a firm believer in Toronto as an NFL market, but it's a way bigger market than most of the teams mentioned above. Of course, if more than two of these teams move, the real elephant in the room will be Vegas.

LA will most definitely get a team, there's an article I read last week that some legal stuff just went through and I believe LA will being building a 75 000 person stadium.

Sorry if it's been posted in this thread, it probably has.

I think Jacksonville is the front runner to be moved to LA. Based on the attendance lows they will see this year, I see no better team to move out West.

My first time reading it. I don't think the NFL will expand there, but I do think a team will re-locate to L.A. Divisional re-alignment is going to be a huge pain in the ass if a team re-locates to L.A.
I was tinkering with the idea of the Vikings moving there, and there were only two real options, IMO. Put L.A. in the NFC West and move Seattle to the NFC North, but I think that would piss the Seahawks off a lot. The other option would be to move the Colts to the NFC North, the Vikings to the NFC West, and the Cardinals to the AFC South.
EDIT: Moving St. Louis to the NFC North makes way more sense than Seattle.
EDIT #2: Actually, moving St. Louis makes way more sense than any of the other scenarios I've thought up.
