Hey Cmyden. I'm looking for the best round trip fare to PVR from YYC aproximately Aug.2- Aug.9. I see Westjet at $369 both ways. Do you think I can find something better if I hold out a while?

I never like to predict prices, but I've found that if prices are going to drop, it's usually around 2-3 months ahead. So it's probably worth waiting until at least May to see. Set up a fare alert on Kayak or Orbitz in the mean time to let you know if the price drops.

Does anyone have much experience flying from Calgary to Dallas?
Am looking for a one-way flight from YYC to DFW on Thurs March 11th...
seems like American Airlines is the only one I can find that flies direct, and the price seems pretty firm at $300 - $350 Canadian for the one-way flight.
Seems steep to me.
Anyone fly to Dallas much? What airline and do you fly direct? Is that price about right?

Looks like AA is the only airline to fly direct from YYC to DFW. There are more choices to fly into Houston direct. Otherwise, United flies to DFW through DEN and US Airways through PHX. Looking at prices though, the non-direct flights are around the same price. I've flown to Houston a couple of times and you can usually expect to pay at least $600 r/t unless there's a seat sale.

The wife is looking to go to the States to see her Grandfather. Either into DFW or Austin. Leaving on April 1 and return April 10/11. I know specific dates suck but what is the best deal right now?
Thanks in advance.

There's actually quite a few dates in Mar/Apr for about that price if anyone is interested. Orlando is routinely the best bang for your buck if you consider how far you're going for your dollar. A lot of the cheaper ones use one airline down there, and another one back. If anyone's looking let me know and I can post some combos.
Jacksonville (JAX) Florida has also been posting great fares lately which is a bit more unusual. Tons of dates in Mar/Apr for $322 USD all in on Delta.

Dallas: Apr 1-10, $631 USD after taxes on American Airlines. It's the cheapest flight, and it's also direct both ways.
Austin: Apr 1-10, $663 USD on Continental. Layover in Houston each way.

Price is $311 if you select April 27 to May 5, 2010. You fly down on American and back on Continental. Husband and I are just figuring out if we can afford it - it's a ridiculously good price.

Just to note, the Delta flights for $312 USD from Apr 26-May 4 are actually a bit cheaper and possibly with slightly less travel time.
There's also quite a few dates in March for $330ish and even February for $322 USD (Feb 16-24 for example, Delta).
So I wouldn't limit yourself to just those dates unless you're looking to save maybe $10.

With AA they seem to have the habit on this route of continually increasing prices the closer you get to the date. It has always seemed better to me to book early when going to Dallas...
|
There's actually some decent ones in March, $433 USD after taxes, on US Airways. 1 hour layover in Phoenix each way.

I am hoping to find a good deal for flights to Orlando for October/November time frame. (wanting to take our kids to Disney) I am seeing some good deals for May right now though.
Do you think I will see something similar for the late fall months if I wait a little while?
Hoping to find something similar to what I can get now (250-280 round trip). Maybe thats an urealistic pipe dream though??

I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility, I remember there being a flight to Orlando on WestJet the first week of November '09 for a really cheap price, something like $250 USD all in. It was around for a while too, can probably find it posted somewhere in this thread to see when the deal came out.
Always hard to predict what prices will do but I'd definitely watch them until at least September for something to come out. Orlando is routinely one of the cheapest places to fly to in North America from Calgary and November seems to be an 'off season' month for a lot of places with a lot of good deals.
