Its hard to find the exact number... they are somewhere over $200M.... I will look if there is a site which shows the payrolls.

I used ESPN which had them at 195 without Roger. I thought Roger signed for about 20 million.

20 was approx. the amount clemens will recieve given the % of the season that he will be with the team i i remember correctly.
...oh yeah, and a-rod's contrct moved up $3,000,001 due to the clause in his contract which stipulates that he will be the highest paid player in the MLB. That adds to the yanks payroll too.

Hands up if you wanted Matt Stairs to punch Rodriguez right in the throat. Some great glove play after the dust up by Macdonald. Too bad the rest of the team had nothing after the bean ball. Ugh.

"Hands up".... I loved it after the incident when Matt was sitting on the Water Container starring at AROD.

The funny thing is that it should be a total mismatch with Stairs being like 38 years old and like 5'-8 tall going against a guy who's a much better athlete and 6 years younger. But something tells me Stairs has a bit more viscious pitbul type fight in him that had Rodriguez not wanting any part of him. Too bad he wasn't playing last night...I bet if they'd thrown at him he would have charged Rodriguez which would have been hillarious.

Wow, the Jays are up 14-2 on the Yankees without a home run. They also have 8 doubles, one off the team record for doubles in a game.
Edit: My bad, they just said 7 doubles.

Yeah, the Jays have had a good approach tonight, take a lot of pitches and draw a few walks and hit the ball up the middle. It's the type of night where I'm half expecting the Yankees to put a position player on the mound to pitch the next inning.

Okay, so the Jays have hit 8 doubles tonight, which ties the record.
Frank Thomas seems to have really heated up.

The problem is who picks up the slack when Frank cools off? VW has been brutal, Glaus is in a terrible slump. And its really too bad for the Jays cuz imo to have had any chance they needed to sweep this series.

who would want to fight a guy who's 5'8", 215? He packs a wallop I'd bet.
Stairs is the guy who gets them going, 2 doubles in his first 2 at bats and they never look back. Tied a Jay's team record with 9 doubles. Heck, even Wells was good. Too bad they used all their offense on one game.

Yankees have been plastered a few times this year. They seem to get all their suckage out in some really bad games.

Was there any beanball going on?
I heard Overbay implied there may be a carry-over of last night's festivities.
